If you were to throw a British-themed party weekend for a 9, 6, and 4 year old – something both fun and (relatively) educational – what activities would come to mind?

I am a college student living in a co-op (house with 38 people). I need to arrange a party; preferably a costume party. The themes I have come up with so far are: 1) Time Traveler's Ball 2) Alice in Wonderland 3)Mad Science Night
Question: What are good ideas for entertainment/activites for those themes?

I try to throw thematic parties once a month (budget: cheap) and was wondering what the best thematic party you've been to was, or what thematic party idea would be one you'd love to go to.

I am having a going-away party for my friends and I need a theme/name! They're moving to China for a year and are brothers, in their 20s. I wanted to come up with something funny but I am blanking today....

The co-op I currently live in while attending University is having a room-to-room party. This basically entails that all of the members of the co-op go to each room for about 15-20 minutes to listen to some good music, drink a bit, and otherwise have a good time. Each room has a different theme so as to give the party a bit of variety.
I am new to the co-op, so I am not familiar with themes that have been used in the past. Moreover, my roommates and I are at a loss for ideas. We need your help!

I'm throwing a Balls Ball. You know, just a buncha dudes, enjoying balls, watching 300 and drinking together. That kind of thing. We have a reasonable menu already, but still, I would like you to suggest your favorite balls. Give me your balls.

Kids themed 21st birthday party: My 21st is in two weeks and I'm having a kids themed party, so it's back to the days of fairy bread and balloons. I need ideas. So far I'm using a projector to set up a big screen game of Super Mario Brothers, I'm having a pin the tail on the donkey game where you win a shot if you get it even remotely right, and I've downloaded a bunch of theme songs from kids shows back then. Any more ideas?

Help us party like it's 1974! A friend is throwing a 1974 party (she was born in that year) and my partner and I would like to bring a gift to the party relevant to that year. We've already drawn up an extensive list of '74 references (see inside) but are really missing out on ideas for food and drink.
