Back in the early days of Australian television — back before I was born — there was a show on the ABC called "Lens on Lilliput". It was a show of its time where basically they showed the view from a microscope. My wife's uncle wants to hear the theme again and although all the family of his age remember the show, they can't remember the theme. Google has been of almost no use to me here and I'm hoping that maybe someone might be able to help.
I'm planning this year's company holiday event with a White Elephant gift exchange included as part of the festivities. I’d like to encourage fun, unexpected items through an appropriately open-ended theme. Themes such as those suggested in this previous Ask MeFi comment are exactly what I’m looking for. Please help me come up with the Ultimate White Elephant theme for our snowflakey crew! [more inside]
Looking for a responsive wordpress theme that's quick loading, doesn't have a lot of bloat, and lets me use my own plugins (SEO, etc.). I used to work in the biz; that plus my current field and sometimes slightly particular aesthetics make a certain amount of customization inevitable. There's so much out there to weed through and many reviews/compilations aren't all that helpful.
How do I get a good grounding in the study of literature while not a full-time student? What resources (Great Courses, books, textbooks, seminars, courses, etc.) would help? The purpose is to add depth, symbolism, and allusion to my own writing. [more inside]
In Australia (maybe elsewhere), Channel 7 played a short sequence as an outro to the Olympics coverage before a commercial break. It lasted 15-30 seconds or so. I'm trying to find a recording of this music. [more inside]

Please help me understand Mardi Gras. So I'm trying to get my fortune cookie business off the ground and a customer recently requested a Mardi Gras theme (despite the fact that the date is well passed) I think she means New Orleans themed. What does this mean? As far as I can tell the colors green and purple are good. Honestly any suggestions for themes with the fortunes or the packaging would be great.
I'm helping find music for a Viking-themed party that would be both fitting and fun to dance to. I've got some viking metal, but that is more head-banging than the booty-shaking I am hoping for. What is the Gogol Bordello of viking bands, or the electroswing of viking music?

I am looking to get a wordpress theme with built-in icons for post types (such as sorbet, but I'm open to using another one to make this easier) to use icons based on categories or tags instead. There is a plugin for this but it doesn't work with the current version of WP and I don't think it's set up to replace part of an existing theme anyway. (It would also be nice if I could customize the color on those bar things too.) Despite my ambitions for awesome blog layout customization, I know very little about CSS and basically haven't coded anything for the web since we all used Netscape Navigator. How do I do this?
Is it possible to make a blog layout like this using Tumblr? Thanks in advance
I'm working on making a magazine blog. I started with a template that is pretty awesome, but I liked the effect another theme used to manage the photo and video gallery. Is there a plugin I can install to achieve this effect or is this hard coded into the template. [more inside]

2 years ago my husband got all huffy and insulted that I hadn't seen all the James Bond movies and instated "Bondathon" where we watched one Bond movie, in order, every sunday every week until we got through them all. He had it all timed out so that the final week coincided with the release of Skyfall. I may not have liked all the movies (Oh my god, "You Only Live Twice" is utter crap!) but I really liked the experience otherwise. Give me some suggestions for other movie -athons that we can have. For some reason, I’ve been thinking lately about the Monty Python sketch “Dennis Moore”, which contains repeated snippets of a song about the main character. (The first instance begins at about 2:40.) I’m looking for similar shows, but played straight instead of as comedy. [more inside]

Help me remember music videos from that magical era when bands would record theme songs for (often horror) movies that were actually lyrically about the movies themselves and the artist would sometimes appear in the video and the video would be a story video and...well you know. Think Ramones' "Pet Sematary" or Dokken's "Dream Warriors" [more inside]
I've had a bit of music stuck in my head for a few days, and I just can't place it. It kind of feels like the theme song or battle music from a cartoon or video game, but I've asked around and flipped through the usual suspects, and nothing matches. [more inside]

Google-fu has the flu. Need a Tumblr theme with the following characteristics: responsive design; minimal (aesthetically); single-column layout; no sidebar; supports tags; displays tags on homepage; supports tag pages; supports google analytics; has searchbox; has social media sharing on posts (including minimally twitter, facebook & tumbler); has section somewhere for "about site owner--brief bio, site owner's social media follow icons (minimally twitter, but fb, linkedin, & pinterest would be grand) & an email contact link; customizable color palette. Love the look of Firefly, Footnote, & Simplist as aesthetic examples but both are lacking a few key things. Sadness. Most of the posts will be text, so a site geared toward photogs isn't ideal as there is usually so much white space. That's an issue with Simplist. Thanks for using your noodle on my behalf. Appreciate the suggestions.

I'm building a website that will offer in-depth player profiles and statistics. I'm looking for a Wordpress theme that lends itself well to this use -- I'm picturing the homepage being a list of teams & players, with each player name linking to his/her individual profile page. Are there any themes, free or paid, that would suit this purpose well? Simple & minimalist themes a plus. [more inside]

My father and I watched a documentary on TV in the 90s (likely TVO in Canada, possibly a National Geographic production?). It was about a boy named Ali who lived in the jungle with his father. It showed their daily life, how they hunted for food, etc. One scene I clearly remember is the father teaching the son how to create poison darts using toads. I believe the title was "Ali's Jungle", but I can't find any references to it on the internet. My dad and I really enjoyed the theme song, which was hummed by the father as he played a thumb piano. Here is a recording my father made at the time: Theme Song Any help identifying this show would be appreciated!

Please help me to choose a WordPress theme for my (second) daily photo blog. Is there (a) such a thing as "companion themes" for WordPress and Tumblr and, if so, (2) where do I find them...? Yeah, so, my new personal project is about writing, not design (which is where all the time goes that I think I should be spending writing...) I want to collate images from Tumblr blogs onto my own Tumblr blog, then write about (some of?) the images and post it on a WordPress blog that's parked at my personal URL. Since I can't go all designery and both platforms are theme-based, I'm wondering if anyone's seen what I'll call "companion themes," for lack of a better term: themes that are adapted for the specific features of each platform, but that share at least a common aesthetic, if not full UI.

I'm currently shopping for pay themes for a Wordpress blog. A lot of theme websites have previews for their themes, but are rather limited in their implementation. I'm designing a custom Wordpress theme as part of a project. In addition to the typical Wordpress install, there's also going to be a social media plug-in on top of it (which has already been picked out and installed by another member of the project). This is the most complicated bit of web development that I've done, so I'm curious: what sort of workflow should I set up to make things easy on myself? [more inside]
