I'm working on making a magazine blog. I started with a template that is pretty awesome, but I liked the effect another theme used to manage the photo and video gallery. Is there a plugin I can install to achieve this effect or is this hard coded into the template. [more inside]

2 years ago my husband got all huffy and insulted that I hadn't seen all the James Bond movies and instated "Bondathon" where we watched one Bond movie, in order, every sunday every week until we got through them all. He had it all timed out so that the final week coincided with the release of Skyfall. I may not have liked all the movies (Oh my god, "You Only Live Twice" is utter crap!) but I really liked the experience otherwise. Give me some suggestions for other movie -athons that we can have. Help me remember music videos from that magical era when bands would record theme songs for (often horror) movies that were actually lyrically about the movies themselves and the artist would sometimes appear in the video and the video would be a story video and...well you know. Think Ramones' "Pet Sematary" or Dokken's "Dream Warriors" [more inside]

Google-fu has the flu. Need a Tumblr theme with the following characteristics: responsive design; minimal (aesthetically); single-column layout; no sidebar; supports tags; displays tags on homepage; supports tag pages; supports google analytics; has searchbox; has social media sharing on posts (including minimally twitter, facebook & tumbler); has section somewhere for "about site owner--brief bio, site owner's social media follow icons (minimally twitter, but fb, linkedin, & pinterest would be grand) & an email contact link; customizable color palette.
Love the look of Firefly, Footnote, & Simplist as aesthetic examples but both are lacking a few key things. Sadness. Most of the posts will be text, so a site geared toward photogs isn't ideal as there is usually so much white space. That's an issue with Simplist.
Thanks for using your noodle on my behalf. Appreciate the suggestions.

I'm building a website that will offer in-depth player profiles and statistics. I'm looking for a Wordpress theme that lends itself well to this use -- I'm picturing the homepage being a list of teams & players, with each player name linking to his/her individual profile page. Are there any themes, free or paid, that would suit this purpose well? Simple & minimalist themes a plus. [more inside]

My father and I watched a documentary on TV in the 90s (likely TVO in Canada, possibly a National Geographic production?). It was about a boy named Ali who lived in the jungle with his father. It showed their daily life, how they hunted for food, etc. One scene I clearly remember is the father teaching the son how to create poison darts using toads.
I believe the title was "Ali's Jungle", but I can't find any references to it on the internet. My dad and I really enjoyed the theme song, which was hummed by the father as he played a thumb piano. Here is a recording my father made at the time:
Any help identifying this show would be appreciated!

Is there (a) such a thing as "companion themes" for WordPress and Tumblr and, if so, (2) where do I find them...?
Yeah, so, my new personal project is about writing, not design (which is where all the time goes that I think
I should be spending writing...) I want to collate images from Tumblr blogs onto my own Tumblr blog, then write about (some of?) the images and post it on a WordPress blog that's parked at my personal URL.
Since I can't go all designery and both platforms are theme-based, I'm wondering if anyone's seen what I'll call "companion themes," for lack of a better term: themes that are adapted for the specific features of each platform, but that share at least a common aesthetic, if not full UI.

In addition to the typical Wordpress install, there's also going to be a social media plug-in on top of it (which has already been picked out and installed by another member of the project). The new Upstairs, Downstairs
series on BBC uses a particular piece of theme music composed by Carl Davis. The theme sounds like it's based on a traditional English folk ballad, like something Vaughan Williams might have rearranged. Of course, it could be an original composition, but if it's based on an existing work I would love to know. Here
is a snatch (MP3 format) from a scene in season 2 episode 4.

The "Pink Panther" theme and the "Peter Gunn" theme are both jazz pieces created by Henry Mancini in the 1960's. But musically, how are they similar? If I add Lalo Schifrin's "Mission Impossible" theme ... is this a particular flavor or genre of jazz? If I like these as music, what other pieces (that are not necessarily theme songs) would I like?

Silly question, surely it's easily answerable but I'm on a computer with no sound and have too much work to do to spend much time looking, so I turn to AskMe in hopes of settling an office disagreement before the workday is over.
The classic musical phrase which describes "mystery," "detective," etc. I think it's from a TV show. Tip of my tongue, but I'm drawing a complete blank.
It goes, "Duuuuum da-dum dum / Duuuuum da-dum dum dummmmmm...."
Notes are: 1, flat-2, flat-3, 1 / 1, flat-2, flat-3, 1, X.
Boss says X
is a perfect fifth. I say it's a flat-5 Who is correct? And what the heck is it from? Thanks AskMe.

I have someone who wants a very specific look for a site but is on a budget, and before I get the design sliced and coded, I thought I'd check to see if anyone has seen a template that matches. We need to be able to pick all colors (background, sheet, etc), the sheet needs to have a shadow around it, and the sheet also needs to have deckle edges. The rest of the layout is pretty standard. Paid template is fine. Or, does anyone have recommendations for forums for theme recommendations?
