I'm going to be flying from Atlanta to DC around Thanksgiving, and I'm trying to figure out the least painful way to do it. Unusually, I don't actually care where I am on Thanksgiving day—I'm go to an event the following weekend. When will be less crazy at the airport?

Specific Thanksgiving poem by a Latino author? I am trying to find a remembered poem for a professor about Thanksgiving that he remembers reading. Poem is in English, by a Latino poet, very funny, and about a young person explaining to his/her parents what Thanksgiving is/means. The prof thinks the poem was by a male author. (minor additional details below the fold)

Last year, the Secretary of the Army and many (most?) other federal bigwigs granted employees four hours of what amounted to admin leave on the day before Thanksgiving. My agency is remote from DC and thus word did not trickle down to us until mid-afternoon.
Will there be a similar dismissal this year? Where would we look for it?

This Friday, I am making a late Thanksgiving on Brisket! Brisket two ways in fact. One will be my famous brisket marinated in Coca Cola and BBQ rub by way of Polish cane sugar coke with roasted garlic and beef gravy. The other brisket I am sort of freaking out about. Does anyone have any ideas?

"American Thanksgiving" in Melbourne, Australia -- for a few Americans and a bunch of new Aussie friends who have never celebrated, but want to help with the cooking. How should I use the next few days to prepare?
A few of the difficulties: I've never hosted Thanksgiving before, in ANY country. I'm not sure how to best coordinate the pot-luck aspect -- trying to shape a decent team-effort menu would be wise. I'm not even sure where the best place is to buy a turkey.
Bonus points for menu suggestions that add Aussie flair to the American holiday (let's put kangaroo in SOMETHING), or that go over-the-top American (who says we can't have turkey AND bacon cheeseburgers?).

About eight years ago, I read this article on some radical-leaning progressive website, about how the author had come to love Thanksgiving, despite originally viewing it as a celebration of mass murder.

Previous similar question, and I've taken all answers to heart. But mine has a twist: I can't stay in.

Years ago, I went to my aunt's house, and she made this really fun Jello mold that was red and had bits of food-processed cranberries, walnuts, celery, and pineapple bits. It was soooo delicious! Since then I've tried to replicate it a few times, all to no avail. Each time, the Jello doesn't set and it comes out like basically a cranberry sauce that tasted like whatever Jello flavor I use. Can anyone point me to a good recipe AND include some tips for success? Many thanks in advance!!
