I'm trying to create a Flash application that will accept user-inputted text, then turn it into cheesy computer-generated speech. I'm hoping there's a Flash library or pre-built application that does this, but I haven't been able to find such a thing. I would prefer the final app be in Flash, but I am open to other solutions. Cost not an issue.

I want to create a web application in which the user enters text into a field and clicks on a submit button, and the text is then altered based on a set of conditions and given back to the user. What's the easiest way of doing this? I have a vague idea that I should use Perl and CGI. I don't know Perl or CGI, but I do know a bit of Java, a bit about servlets and JSPs, some Visual Basic, and quite a bit about http.

so my friend is trying to locate an online service whereby one can type a message to a phone number over the web, and an operator than reads that message to the other end over the phone. So essentially its a computer text-to-voice over phone service, it may be intended for deaf-blind individuals. any ideas?

A friend of mine recently told me that she can't read comic books. She doesn't have problems with understanding text or visual information. She's been a voracious book reader since a very early age and she's a dedicated film watcher. I didn't entirely understand her explanation but she says that she never learn to decode the tight coupling of textual and visual information in comic books. Has anyone heard about or experienced something similar?

What are my best options for both the Mac and Windows?

Hi, hoping some MS Excel or HTML wizards can help me out with this. The goal is as follows; format a list of domain names so I can publish them on a webpage with hyperlinks to their individual addresses
(currently they are all in Excel with each domain occupying a single cell in a single row; they are currently formatted like this: "domain.com"). There are just to many to go through and add this to each one.

How do I make Windows XP search inside TPL files? I know they're text files, but because Windows doesn't recognise the extension, when I try to search for "a word or phrase in the file" it won't search inside the TPL files.
I know I did this once before to get it to search PHP files, but I can't remember how I did it.

What is your fav. text editing OS X application? I need syntax highlighting for as many languages as possible, S/FTP, among most other common funtions (line numbering, block un/commenting, block indentation, etc). The best on the PC in my opinion is UltraEdit, nothing i've used on the Mac comes close. I'm currently using TextWrangler but I miss much of what UltraEdit offers. Any suggestions?
