I need to copy text between a commercial text editor (TextPad 6.1.3 by Helios) and a home brew program used by my company. When I try to do this now, the highlighted text is moved/cut rather than copied. Is there a Windows 7 or TextPad setting I can use to force the behavior to copy rather than cut the text?

After restarting Windows 7 (SP 1) today, my chosen Small text setting (100% at 100 dpi on a 1920 x 1200 resolution) had been replaced by Medium (125%). Text everywhere looked huge. I switched back to Small, but now a lot of my system text (like
title bar text and
context menu text ) is extremely small, much smaller than before, and some other text, like the listing of subject headings in my Thunderbird email client and the tab text in Firefox, is also incredibly small. How to get back to my original Small appearance?

Is there an equivalent plugin for Chrome that duplicates
It's All Text for Firefox? I use a browser a lot to enter complicated text into things like wikis and I need a full featured text editor for Chrome. I currently use It's All Text which lets me use vim to do everything that vim can do to the text in a text box but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent for Chrome.

Do these Spanish text messages I'm getting (which I have crudely translated for you) sound like a spammer fishing for valid numbers, or does it sound like a lovesick teen who has just gotten the wrong number? I want to tell them they've got the wrong number so they'll stop, but don't want to respond if it's a spammer. Language barrier and inexperience with text spam leave me unsure.

Web filter filter: I seem to remember a link to an NYT article that just contained the full text of the article in nice big letters, with no graphics, banners, or ads. It was fully attributed, with links to the original, but it was much more pleasant to read, especially for a long article. Is there a website that will filter out the clutter and provide links that can be forwarded?

I'm giving a big presentation in a couple of weeks and it has to be impressive. I have a fabulous idea for a graphic, inspired by the facebook
friend wheel, where I want to
wrap perhaps 100 words around a circle and draw lines to connect them in illustrative ways. The drawing lines part is easy, but the wrapping text around a circle part is hard (without doing it one element at a time, rotating and aligning each one just so). I *know* there's an easy way to do this, but am not quite smart enough to figure it out in omnigraffle or find another program that can do it. I can use Mac or PC. If you point me to a workable solution, you'll get your name in lights (if you wish) in addition to my unending gratitude.

I have hundreds of text strings entered through a form in a Google Spreadsheets which look like
4*3 9*2 17*3 22 37*4 52. I can easily substitute " " for "+" and concatenate a "=" in front
=4*3+9*2+17*3+22+37*4+52. Now I have a text string which looks like a formula but isn't one.
How can I make Google Spreadsheets interpret this string as a formula?

I did a dumb thing. I put together a book list in this format:
first-name last-name (tab) book-title
Note that there *isn't* a comma between the author's first and last name.
Is there any "computer magic" I can perform to change it to this format:
last-name first-name (tab) book-title
The list is just in text format, for what it's worth. I'm on a Mac but also have access to a PC. I'd rather not have to cut-n-paste the last names, it's a pretty long list.
