At the end of this month I'm coming to the end of my mobile 'phone contract with T-Mobile UK and am looking for the cheapest way (presumably SIM only) to run my Android smartphone whilst being able to tether it to my Android tablet - does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for plans/providers/cunning ruses to get a great deal, please?

Australia smart phone filter: I need to buy a new smart phone. I would like one that will allow me to occasionally connect my laptop to the internet. (Tethering?) Clearly I'm not that tech savvy so I don't want to jailbreak (?) etc. Is this possible with any smart phone on the market in Australia?

Ma Bell nerfed my tethering! I'm long off contract from my 3G and happy to switch carriers/OS's. Which smart phones on which providers would you recommend? They must have reasonably priced and effective tethering availing.

What's a newer Android phone on t-mob where you can use a wifi-sharing program (a common one that I've seen free online) to create a wi-fi hotspot? Not trying to get anything related to this from t-mob directly. I just want a newer Android phone that is capable of this, if such a thing exists. I'm assuming that said phone would have an option for an unlimited data plan.

I've got an HTC Magic (also known by the execrable name myTouch 3G) running Android 1.6 from T-Mobile. I also have a MacBookPro running OS 10.4.11. Does a tethering program exist that will let me use my phone to supply an internet connection for my computer?
It seems that I can't use PdaNet (my computer would need to be a PC, or I would need a phone running Android 2.0). Do any other good programs exist that fit my specifications?

While tethering is
officially unsupported on the
new Android phone, there is no Apple-style remote-app-killing service. Is there anybody out there familiar with the Android SDK that could tell me if tethering this phone to a laptop to share internet is impossible? Is it something physically unsupported in the SDK, or artificially blocked out by T-Mobile? Or will there be an app out like, 10 minutes after the phone is released?

BlackBerry as modem under OS X . Specifically, T-Mobile 8700g as modem under 10.4.
Pulse seems like the best choice but also the priciest choice ($50) for the connection utility. Does anybody here use Pulse? Am I missing any free or cheap alternatives that match Pulse's performance?

My (non-existent) ideal device is a Treo -- with wifi, GSM/GPRS, and either EDGE or HSDPA -- on a service plan that includes flat-rate unlimited data, flat-rate international data roaming, and a small amount of voice usage inside the U.S. (say 100 mins/month). So, in the real world, is a Blackberry 8800 on T-Mobile my best choice for a plan starting in spring 2007?

I need to buy a new cell phone. It should have a text keyboard, work with a higher-speed EDGE/GSM network and most of all sync (address & calendar) +
act as a bluetooth modem for my Powerbook. That last bit is a problem apparently: I am having trouble finding good actual info on which phones can do this.
