Mattress/Tempurpedic question ... I am about to purchase a used "1 year old" Tempurpedic mattress from a local person (via Craigslist). He claims it is a Deluxe model ...

Mattress/Tempurpedic question ... I am about to purchase a used "1 year old" Tempurpedic mattress from a local person (via Craigslist). He claims it is a Deluxe model ... I went to his house and the mattress looks and feels good, but I would like to verify that it is indeed a "Deluxe" model (mostly in regards to negotiating price).

I understand from the Internets that a Deluxebed is 10" thick, but when I was there I neglected to measure the thickness.

When I go to pick it up tomorrow (I haven't paid him yet), is there anything I should look for to determine that it is not a different Tempurpedic model (eg. "Classicbed")?

How can I determine the mattresses I'm looking at are real TempurPedics?

I'm trying to buy a used TempurPedic mattress on craigslist as a gift for a family member who wants one. I know next to nothing about mattresses- how do I make sure I actually get a genuine TempurPedic? My Grandma wants a TempurPedic mattress. She knows we're looking at used, and she is ok with that, but she wants a genuine TempurPedic mattress. Beyond looking at tags, is there any way to tell if I am looking at the real deal when I go to see mattresses from craigslist? How much should a genuine Full/Twin in good condition be?

Thank you!

Tempurpedic vs. Memory Foam

The topic has been covered here before, but the answer to this specific question remains elusive: Is there a difference between expensive Tempurpedic mattresses and the generic memory foam ones? We found a Leeds Mattresses brand mattress ($1299) and a Tempurpedic ($3499) that felt pretty similar as far as comfort in the store, but the salesman swore up and down that the house brand mattress wouldn't be as durable or comfortable in the long run. They both have 5 pound viscoelastic memory foam. Does anyone have experience with the Leeds brand of memory foam (the manufacturer is Leader) or with Tempurpedic versus generic? Sorry for the sort-of repeat question, except it's not really --though mattresses and memory get a lot of play on Ask MeFi, I didn't find anything current that could answer this question. Google turns up a bunch of conflicting information. Consumer Reports charges for their info (recurring billing -- argh!) I'm hoping for some up-to-date, cutting edge mattress insight! Thanks :)

In the market for a new mattress: Requesting info on the classic Bergad Isoform Mattress.

I've been sleeping on a cheap Ikea mattress for a few years now and have finally decided to invest in a better one. I like the Tempur-Pedic beds, but I haven't really looked into them due to the high prices (I need a Queen). I recently came across these Bergad Isoform Mattresses while researching online and found quite a few good reviews on epinions. I'm a bit worried about having to purchase one without being able to test it, though I hear they are quite comparable to the Tempur-Pedics. What are your thoughts?

As an aside, I have a genuine curiosity about how these beds are for sex. I'm used to spring mattress beds which seem to be more buoyant than the foam beds, and I'm curious if that affects sex in any way. I don't mean to be crass, but it IS hard to find reviews on that other thing people do in their beds!

Can you help me buy a memory foam mattress topper

Memory Foam Mattress Toppers - assuming the density, thickness and size are all the same is there any difference from brand to brand? Also, I've heard they can trap heat. Do they get uncomfortably warm, or are there other things I should think about before purchasing? I'm trying to research the purchase of one of these toppers. I know that often they aren't full size. I know that 4 or 5 pounds of density will be better than lower density stuff that will start to get dents over time. Beyond that, if I found a mattress that was full size, 2 inches thick and 4 pounds in density, is there any other difference in terms of brand or should I go with whatever is cheapest from store to store?

Finally, does anybody have any experience with <a href=http://www.healthyfoundations.com/" ">Healthy Foundations or <a href=http://www.foamorder.com/" ">Foam Order.com? Are there any other good, inexpensive sites I should be looking at? I know overstock has them, and probably for less, but they looked inferior.

Are Tempurpedic foam mattresses worth buying?

I need a new mattress. While shopping around, I tried one of those TemPurpedic, Swedish foam mattersses. They are about 4x more than I would ever expect to pay for a bed, but i am tempted. Anyone have any experience/advice/tips on these? Worth it or not? Any cheaper alternatives?

Tell me about memory-foam mattresses.

Those memory-foam mattress things. Tempurpedic and the knock offs you can find in other shops. I've noticed some cost as low as $400, scroll down to the bottom (beware, it's an awful site) with the Tempurpedic running about $1800 for a fullsize. There are other knockoffs (one by Sealy i think) but I can't find a link. And what's with the latex beds? Consumers! REPORT! thanks. I have a friend whose life was changed by these things. I worry it's a fad, like the waterbed but I've heard good things. I have two questions. 1) go Tempurpedic or try something else? 2) for those with one, what is sex like on them?
