I'm starting to get more well-paid freelancing writing work (features and corporate comms). It's a good way to quickly earn some extra cash, so I need an online portfolio to show to new prospects. Does anyone have any examples of good online portfolios by journalists and marketing copywriters? [more inside]
I know of Wix, Squarespace, and Barley. What are some other companies that offer template websites with WYSIWYG-like interfaces? Preferably good template options, an Android app, and e-commerce-able. Each of the above is lacking in one of those areas--for instance, Squarespace has e-commerce and good templates but the Android app blows. Thanks!

Helping friends set up their small business website. I am not a web designer/developer, just fine with tweaking, dependable and honest--unlike their last web person. They don't need a lot of fancy stuff, but I would like to move them off of google sites and get them something 1)more professional 2) still easily updatable. They are hosted on godaddy with redirects now, which is wasteful. The godaddy webbuilder software does not impress so far. [more inside]
Im writing a manual for an excel tool I wrote. Does anyone know any really nice templates I can use or let myself be inspired by? I just need help on the aesthetic part ;) It's one of those manuals with pictures and screenshots too :) [more inside]

This weekend I'm setting up a website for an academic event. I'd like the homepage of the site to have large, clickable progress bars that display the number of posts for each of the subpages (News & Announcements, Blog, Events, etc.). As more posts are added to each of the subpages (posts would likely be sorted and displayed by category and tag), its respective progress bar takes up more screen real estate and the tally count listed on/near it increases. Basically, I want the homepage to look like a giant, dynamic bar chart. Is there a freeware (or cheap) template, widget or piece of code that allows me to do this? [more inside]

I have installed DVD Studio Pro 4 on my Powerbook, as part of the Final Cut Studio Pro 5 suite. However, the templates or styles didn't install and I don't have a "Content" icon on the install disk. Is it possible to get the folders of templates and styles from someone? I don't want a copy of your disk or to do anything illegal, but if someone had the program installed and could copy only those folders, I don't think it would constitute copyright infringement ... or would it?

I have created several website design templates. Does anyone know of a place on the web where I can post them and sell them? I know the obvious would be to build my own website and sell them - but I only have 5 - not quite enough to justify setting up a whole site.
I'm working on a powerpoint presentation and none of the existing templates or those I have found on the web suits my needs. I've created my own template using the "master slide" feature. However, when I leave the "master view" the colours/fonts etc. stay the same as I set them, but the placement of the boxes (headlines and text boxes) return to the defaults. How do I create a template that holds the headlines and text where I put them? [more inside]
I'm now using OpenOffice 1.1.5 on WinXP sp2, as I don't intend to buy Word/Office or whatever it's called these days. It's ok, but has a real shortage of built-in templates. I've knocked up a website which is modifed from some of the templates from the layout reservoir. However the top bar which contains the image is causing problems under some browsers (IE6 and Firefox being two) because the height doesn't match the image height which means that the text is obscured. Any suggestions? [more inside]
