Help me build my perfect home media machine. It must play blu-ray discs, browse the web, and stream HD video from internet sources. I have no interest in video games, and little interest in cable TV. Is this something I can buy? If this is something I must build myself, what kind of computing muscle will I need?

일 박 이 일, Il Bahk Ee Il, with English subtitles?
While I was in Korea, I loved watching Il Bahk Ee Il with my brother. I'd like to find DVDs (ideally) or other video sources of the show, but ones that I can understand. For that, I'd like English subtitles. Where should I look? (If I can find it before my brother, I'll buy it for him—if it's only available in Korea, he'll buy it for me.)

DVDs and Blu Ray discs are such a pain with their ability to be scratched and the need to find where a disc is, is it in the right case, etc. I find myself often drawn to standard definition “on demand” movies on cable (free ones) instead of searching my own high definition or DVD movies. Is there a way to have the convenience of “on demand” and the quality of the original media?

I enjoy watching television shows once they're on DVD, but never sit down to watch when they're actually on. I'm picky, so now I'm out of stuff to watch.

Brightness cycling while playing DVDs: My girlfriend has an old Panasonic VCR/TV combo. When I play DVDs on it (using my old Panasonic DVD player), the brightness (luminance) level fluctuates continually, ranging from just brighter than normal to very dark. The kicker: It only happens with some DVDs. What's going on here?

TiVo to DVD: I've got a TiVo Series 2 which I've had for about 8 months.
According to them, I could burn shows onto a DVD using the "Save to VCR" feature. Has anybody tried this? Were you satisfied with how it worked?
