I'm directing a farce with a bunch of high-schoolers, and would love to give them some movie suggestions to look at for characters. They are pretty classic comic archetypes, but my brain is reeling a bit trying to think of all of them, and though I'd put it out to the hive mind. The only catch is that I can't really suggest any R-Rated movies, because most of them aren't old enough to watch them... [more inside]

I have about a hundred teenagers in a room for about two to four hours. What type of service project could we do on-site that would require little capital (less than $100), but could make a difference in someone's life here or somewhere around the world? We have lots of energy and time, but are lacking money and transportation.

I started dating someone pretty seriously at the beginning of the summer. Due to his former wife's emotional instability, his three children (a 16-year-old daughter and 12-year-old twin sons) are living with us in my small two-bedroom apartment. I always wanted to have kids, but this is rather sudden! I'm lost and stumbling. Please offer any advice you think relevant. [more inside]

Any recommendations for a movie to show my Jewish youth group (grades 8-12), when we meet on Talk Like a Pirate Day? Bonus points if it's either a) Depp-free, and/or b) tangentially related to the themes of the high holidays. I love my job.

Teen daughter wants to go to California for 16th birthday. It will be a Mother/Daughter getaway. Of course I don't want to break the bank or use the college fund for a trip (not that she would mind). She likes shopping, site-seeking and staying in nice hotel rooms. We''ll probably do 4 days or so.
I'm thinking San Francisco. Any hotel and/or activities recommendations?

I recently came across an article about the lack of opportunities for teenagers in rapidly developed suburban/exurban communities. Can you help me find it again? [more inside]

What cases have you seen of self incrimination or unflattering postings on the net? What should teens know about their activities on the internet and how their lives might be affected by their postings on social networks, blogs, and other sites? [more inside]

A friend of mine is looking for suggestions of newsletters, videos, books, etc. that will help staff-members in a residential foster care program interact with their clients. The clients are 16-21 year old young men, that have been in and out of the foster care program. This material would preferably be in Spanish, would help motivate the teens, and/or would possibly discuss developmental issues. Any and all ideas are welcome.

I have a question for those who were teenagers in the 1980's, I'm doing a presentation with a group and my part is generational persona of teens relating to safety (how safe did the avg teen feel?), reckless behavior (how did teens rebel, or get into trouble?) and individualism (Did teens clump themselves into cliques and groups, or did they feel the need to succumb to a particular 'look'was it accepted to be unique and individualistic?) Anybody know any book/movie recommendation i can make to a 16-year old, gay, African-American kid who's just "coming of age" though he hates that phrase. He's reading everything he can on the subject and looking for more. Fiction and non-fiction.
