The band Teenage Head was HUGE when I was in highschool in the early 80's. Were they popular anywhere outside of Southern Ontario?

What is a good job for a teenager that is good with computers?

I'm a highschool kid, good with computers, looking for an online job regarding computers? Hi,
I am a junior in high school, let me describe my computer talents.
- Thorough with Windows, Microsoft Office
- Good with the Internet
- Can learn any program fast (GUI)
- Extremely good writing and how-to skills.
- Tech savvy with apps and electronics
- NOT A PROGRAMMER OF ANY SORT, which somewhat contradicts the one above this :)

I am looking for a job, perhaps in writing that would help me to utilize these skills. I'm not looking for a job that you do for a couple of cents (I know Amazon has something like that). I've hear about becoming a ChaCha guide, but what else. I know I'm a dime a dozen but any ideas are excepted.. Also, age is not a problem, I can always use my parents as"a pen name"..Also, I am not intrested in becoming a local tech support guy too.
Please help thanks!

What is the smoothest teenage sex music?

If you were doing the soundtrack for a teen comedy, what song would you play in this scene?

A nervous 14 year-old girl finally gets her crush to sleep over at her place. Naturally, she wants it to get hot and heavy. However, when she quaveringly proposes that they go to bed, her crush shrugs and flops over diagonally in bed--clearly not inviting any action, and not giving our hero any space to sleep. As the oblivious crush slumbers away, our stymied hero has no choice but to curl up like a dog on the miniscule corner of the bed left to her, struggling to pull a bit of blanket over her...etc.

We originally wanted Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" for this scene, kicking in just as the viewer begins to detect some potential sexiness on the horizon. The gag (obviously) was to play some recognizable "sex music" during this disappointingly non-sexual encounter. However, we've come to think that (1) the song is too cliched, and (2) it's too removed from what the protagonist would actually listen to. While the music here is non-diagetic, we didn't want it to be too different from the other stuff she likes, such as the Ramones, Devo, and Eric's Trip.

So can you think of a song that's in the same ballpark of silky, yearning sexiness, but is (at least SLIGHTLY) less well known...which is possibly by an indie artist and not too much like 'adult' sex music?

Help me be a cool older cousin and get awesome gifts for a 14 and 15 year old.

Help me find gifts for remarkably un-greedy teenage girls: they are 14 and 15, and absolutely refuse to tell me what they want (I think their mother, my aunt, raised them too well.) More details: The older one has gotten into music lately, but she seems to mostly be into one band and has all their stuff already. (Both already have MP3 players.) She's a popular social butterfly type, goes to concerts and such with her friends all the time. Was very into Harry Potter. Has a boyfriend.

The younger one is a bit more nerdy, likes to read but doesn't have much time because she's very busy with school. She also does cheerleading, but contrary to the stereotype she's pretty introverted and quiet. She loves dogs (they have one), and likes to cook.

At that age I'd have wanted video games or computer stuff but they're entirely unlike me so I am baffled. Plus they're super polite and don't admit to wanting anything. I've even tried taking them shopping and only with great great reluctance did they let me buy a couple of DVDs and books. For birthdays I just gave them $50 apiece but that felt impersonal so I'd like to do real gifts, with approximately the same budget.

Thanks in advance!

Good present for a teenaged boy.

What would be a cool present for a 15-year old boy who wants for nothing. My 15 year old son has nothing he wants for Christmas. I'm enormously proud of him this year. He's a very hard worker - harder than I ever was. He started high school, and has gotten mostly As with a couple Bs in the most challenging courses offered. He is on the hockey team, he plays Lacrosse in the spring, and he fences all year round.

He's very interested in games, especially World of Warcraft and D&D. I know almost nothing about these, other than my trusted adult friends who grew up on them say they are wholesome.

He's also a talented saxophone player. He needs a new horn, but I'm thinking $5000 is more than I want to spring for for a christmas present. I was thinking some kind of windsynth might be a good toy, but maybe I'm just thinking about what I would like for myself.

Any good ideas? I'm looking or something that will astonish him. (We talked about getting him a girlfriend, but decided that was too hard, and he probably needs to make the choice himself.)

Advice for a teenager at job interviews.

JobFilter: What is your best advice to a teenager who is jobhunting, in regards to the actual interview? For the past few months, I've been searching for my second ever job anywhere to supplement the college tuition I'll soon be paying- small shops, drugstores, grocers, etc, to supplement the freelance design work I do (which pays well, but isn't steady enough).

I apply, follow up, and try and arrange an interview- but now I've gone through half a dozen interviews, and no one has seemed interested in hiring me, even if they have positions they need filled. (I'm a 17 year old female, for the record.)

My answer for why I left my last job is "Now-resolved health issues," so I'm not sure if they're alarmed by that. I had a car accident in October, and my previous employer (at a grocery store) was not willing to work on me, schedule wise or shift wise, while I was in physical therapy (10 hour Saturday rush shifts with no bagger, telling me I'm to work x hours when I come in, but changed to more hours after I get back from break).

When I go to an interview, I dress nicely (khakis and a blouse, or a dress skirt and a blouse), am polite, answer questions as honestly as I can in a way that doesn't put me in a bad light, and am (I hope) engaging and amiable. My hours are very flexible (willing to work nights, mornings, weekends, whichever), and I'm willing to accept almost any position.

Still... no job. Tell me, Hive Mind- What am I doing wrong? How can I seem like a better prospective employee to my interviewers?

TMNT T?

I am in search of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles t-shirt for a little boy who is turning four. The kid is obsessed with those turtles, and really wants a TMNT t-shirt. His birthday is coming up next week and it would be fun to get him one and be the hero-aunt. However, I can't find a TMNT t-shirt in his size (4T or a kids' size small) anywhere; they seem to be available only in adult sizes. I thought the TMNT were pretty popular among kids his age, though, so I suspect that the shirt I'm looking for exists and I've just been missing it. Anyone seen one available recently? I would prefer not to order it online, but I have easy access to many chain stores.

Nintendo Wii and Teens

I have a compound question...part one is about the safe-guards of the Nintendo Wii and the other is about how to handle a related situation with my teenage boys... Part One: Does anyone know if the Wii will have any kind of parental controls built into it? We don't necessarily want our kids to be able to go anywhere they want (ie: porn sites) online when we're not around. Secondly, is there some kind of firewall built into this thing? We run a network with our computers and have some concerns about our computers being hacked through the Wii.

Part Two: We have 2 teenage boys (13 & 14 yo). The 13 yo has money to buy a Wii and wants to put it in his room instead of in the family room. It's mostly a control issue, we think. Our concern is that if it's "his" that he will expect to be able to control who plays it and when...and if it's in his room, the rest of the family can't play it at all once he goes to bed (Mr. Smith is a gamer, too). The parental control issue above plays into this issue somewhat.

We would rather buy the Wii for "the family" at Christmas and avoid the strife that we think this situation will cause, but the 13 yo isn't really happy w/ this because of the ownership issue. The 14 yo doesn't want part of his Christmas present to be the Wii because he wants money to put toward an iPod.

The other option that we came up with was to let the 13 yo buy his Wii and put it in his room and then buy a "family" one at Christmas for the family room. Neither of the boys are thrilled about this option because they don't want to "spend" the Christmas money on a second console. I don't really like this option, either, but we're stuck on how to handle the issue.

Any suggestions on handling this would be appreciated.

How can a young girl find peace with herself?

How can a 14 year old girl overcome severe anxiety and low self-esteem, without prescribed medication? At age 5 she was reading at a 6th grade level and exhibiting amazing curiosty, creativity and widsom beyond her years, but found it extremely difficult to connect with her peers and cope with the frustration and anxiety that resulted from her sense of loneliness. For nearly 10 years, she has struggled through public, private and home-school alternatives. Her parents have been very supportive for 10 years, trying to help her walk the line between staying true to her creative pursuits (she has terrific skill as a writer) and "fitting in" with her peer group. This inner conflict has consumed her, causing extreme anxiety and aggression to those around her. All the normal difficulties of life (social, emotional and intellectual) become significantly magnified, causing deep rage to develop. Her parents are deeply opposed to medicating, choosing to look for solutions for the problem (low self-esteem) rather than the symptom (her resulting behaviour).

In short - how can a teenage girl learn to like herself and her unique qifts, putting the pain of her past behind her, without moderating her very active brain with chemicals?

Please recommend a homepage for a teenage girl who loves to websurf I'm setting up a spare computer for my daughters, ages 16, 13 and 9 and I'd like recommendations on a good homepage for them. Something with all the goodies teenagers like (ie: music, fashion/health, games) but nothing racy or obnoxious.

The computer is also a tad slow and is running Fedora w/firefox, so shockwave sites are not an option (although I've got mplayer setup and it's got high speed).

I'd like to show my daughters the old man still knows a thing or two about teh intarweb!

There was a book I read in Jr. High about a shy, awkward teenage boy named Fex. Not Tex, "Fex." I am fuzzy on the details but I seem to recall he wore unfashionable cowboy shirts and/or cowboy boots -- I could be wrong on that -- and that he gets embarrassed at a party; that I'm sure of.
