I am a woman whose experience in technology is eerily similar to that of the women in these two articles. I am at a breaking point. But rather than leave the field, I would like to shift employment so that I'm working at exclusively women-led or women-run companies. Can anyone provide some ideas for potential places to apply for full-time employment? [more inside]

This feels like a very strange question to ask as I can't figure out if the issue is technical or personal. I will try to explain, however. [more inside]
I'm a career changer and coming to the end of training to be a teacher. There's a job going in my current school, including responsibility for ICT and I'd love to apply for it. The problem is, I'm too new to be fully qualified for it as it stands - but it's a fantastic school and I'd really love to teach there. I plan to have a conversation with the Head to ask them to let me at least apply, so that I'd be considered alongside the other, more experienced, candidates. Then they can decide whether to interview me and whether my potential outweighs my lack (so far) of experience as a teacher. I'm putting together some proposals to show to them, as part of my planned 'pitch'. My line will be 'I'm new but I have loads of great ideas' - and that's where I need your help. [more inside]

I need a new job, and I have no idea what job I might be good at and enjoy. Please give me ideas for some jobs that I haven't thought of. I'm in my late 20s and working as a research analyst for a large firm, and I can't take the feeling that I'm not doing anything worthwhile (or even enjoyable) with my life. I'm not sure what to do. Do you know of any unconventional careers that might be a good fit? Please give me an idea of where to get started. [more inside]

I have 15 years of experience building web applications, programming in interesting subject domains and leading programming teams. I enjoy software development, but it doesn't utilize my social skills very well and I think I have a unique blend of technical talent and communication skills. I'm looking for the next thing and I'm wondering if it might be sales in a technical field. [more inside]

I work at a small software company. I'm a developer, so my cohorts and I are responsible for our own software bugs and it's pretty obvious when we screw something up. My policy is to fess up, fix it, and move on. But another group in the company, responsible for all database administration and all networking/internet issues, has never made a mistake. Is that really possible? [more inside]
