How would you compare a career in social work with elementary school teaching? Given that underlying values overlap so much, how might you decide which would spark more passion, happiness, and success? (Not that any career is perfect.)

I'm looking for a fully online MA program in TESOL or a related field like Applied Linguistics, that is NOT meant for K-12 public school teaching, with the aim of professionalizing myself as an English tutor. I found the New School's program
here, that would certainly cover all my bases, but I simply wouldn't be able to afford the cost. Can you help me find other options?

I will be going to a teacher associate job interview next week. This is where I will be sort of like a teacher's aide. Do any of you have great comments or responses that will impress the interviewer?

I've been seriously considering becoming a high school math teacher. I have some experience teaching in a classroom, and lots of experience tutoring. What I'd like to know now - before I jump into an alternative degree program - is what it's actually like
being a teacher day in and day out. If I'm not going to be able to hack it, I'd rather know now.

After a lot of soul-searching, I’m not sure I want to continue in my current industry and am looking at a possible career change at the age of 35 – becoming a high school English teacher.

What are some yoga training programs or traditions that might be compatible with the Bikram yoga teacher training I've already done? I'd like to be able to teach classes beyond the 26-postures-2-breathing-exercises, and I'd also like to be able to teach a style of yoga that isn't as highly regulated in terms of restricting where/what you can teach.

My formal educational background/profession is in a different area, but I would be interested in teaching a seminar on spirituality, comparative religion, and philosophy at a university. I've studied these areas informally. Anyway, I want it to be mostly a participatory, discussion-oriented class, not one where I pass down my knowledge from on high. How hard would this be to do and how should I go about doing it -- esp. at a well-known university like, say, NYU? I don't need much if any compensation.

A K-12 school I am involved in wants to be able to publish digital portfolios of student work on the web. As to additional functionality (i.e. Commenting on work, Blogging) I'm open to proposals. Since the budget doesn't allow us to pay someone to hack apache and write code we're looking for an out of the box solution. I believe that
Userland's Manila would let me do this at least in part - are there any other solutions I can be looking at?
