I suspect my former company is guilty of tax evasion after paying me like a freelancer instead of a full-time employee, unless I'm operating under a serious misconception of tax rights. I quit under duress, but now I'm filing taxes and I'd like to report their behavior if it has indeed been inappropriate. Please tell me whether or not I'm right to do so, and if so, how I should report them to the IRS with very little concrete evidence other than hearsay and my own 1099 form. [more inside]

I filed my taxes online about two or three weeks ago, and completely forgot about a mutual fund I own. Or rather, I remembered it, but because I didn't take anything out of it or put anything into it, I didn't think anything of it. Of course, I forgot about the dividends. So, today I get my Form 1099-DIV from Goldman Sachs, and find that I received $71.04 in total ordinary dividends. What should I do? My taxes were filed electronically and I've already received my state refund. Should I just sit on it and if I'm questioned by the IRS, pay the $10 or whatever in extra taxes? Will I get fined a huge amount if I don't alert them now? If I do alert them, how would I go about doing that? Asking anonymously because I feel like an idiot.

Please recommend a local tax preparer in the SF Bay area (San Jose preferred). I have a fairly straightforward situation: single, 401(K), charity donations that need to be itemized and some interest income from a money market account.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good CPA in the east bay (San Francisco) area. We don't know many locals who don't use turbo-tax and have a complicated year's worth of taxes. [more inside]

blogging as a business and taxes - it can't be so difficult! Or can it? The Plan - spouse and I want to start a travel blog (we love to travel and are *good* at it!) as a business. You know, run some google ads, make a little money. Actually, if we make enough to cover our travel, we'll be happy (until the eventual greed kicks in). Soooo... if we're going to make more than $600 here in America, the IRS is going to want it's share. But two can play at that game! We want to take all the deductions we can (home office, website costs and, of course, our travel). It will just be the two of us, no employees. But therein lies the confusion... [more inside]

Should I be paying US taxes? I moved to the UK when I was 14 (1991), and have never drawn an income in the United States, don't maintain a credit card, bank account, address, etc. However, I am still a US citizen, as well as a UK resident (soon to become citizen). A (paranoid and not informed) parent is worried that I'm going to end up in prison for tax evasion. I certainly don't earn enough money that I can afford to be taxed in two countries. Any information is greatly appreciated.
