I was going to buy an IKEA bookcase, but I looked at the instruction manuals for all the ones I'd like to get and they all have a thin, fake-wood back instead of a real wood back. I think this looks a bit corny, and I've seen thin backs get absolutely destroyed. Target's bookcases aren't any better. I'll buy a bookcase like this if I have to, but - are there any places that sell relatively inexpensive bookcases with actual wooden backs?
I love this bag, but it's made from PVC, not leather. Is it a knockoff of another, higher-quality bag? That I can buy? [more inside]
A few years ago Target sold long sleeved Converse branded Henley shirts like this that I loved. I have lost a couple of these over the years and I am looking to replace them, but it looks like they've been discontinued. So, mefites, where can I find these shirts, or something similar to replace them? The Target shirts were pretty cheap, but I'm open to spending more for clothing that will last. Thanks.
I am interested in working on a publishing/performing career (think the sort of thing you see on The Moth). However, I am female. I am aware that all women if they get well known anywhere will immediately attract trolls, stalkers, and potential rapists who will constantly send her death threats at bare minimum. Knowing this kind of thing is guaranteed to happen to me if I try to have a creative career makes me terrified to try. [more inside]
I shopped at Target twice during the period last year that their customer data was compromised. I used my debit card once (which, ugh, I never shop with, but I must have needed cash back), and my credit card once. And apparently other information, like home and e-mail addresses, was also taken. How concerned should I really be, and how much effort should I put into changing card numbers and monitoring my own information? [more inside]

My understanding is that a stolen card or card number has a shelf life of a couple of days at most, before someone gets wise to the theft and cancels the number. The stories I'm reading suggest that these stolen numbers are good for quite a long time. The online stores that sell them even guarantee they're still good! Are the owners of the cards failing to notify the bank after realizing that their cards were used at Target during the period when all the numbers were stolen? Are the banks not scanning their files to find out which cards were used at Target during the period, and taking the initiative in canceling them?
I'm on the hunt for pants that fit. I have skiers' thunder thighs, love handles that are slightly larger than my hips and no butt. I'm on the lookout for skinny jeans in dark, unadorned washes, for under $100. The closest fit I've found is Target's fit 3, but it aint great. Suggestions? The easiest place for me to get healthy food for lunch near my college campus is a Target with a grocery section. Keeping in mind that there is nowhere on campus for me to store any food, and that I already have enough to carry around in my backpack and so won't be taking multi-serving things out of the store with me (unless they are so light as to be not noticeable), what are some healthy single serving lunches I can make out of things I buy in Target's grocery section? I am not asking about things I can make at home and bring with me*; I'm talking about things I can get at Target and eat at the table in the front of the store, or take to a microwave I have access to on campus. I really like metaphors and I really like song lyrics. Every once in a while I run across a particular type of cleverly extended metaphor in a song lyric. I'm trying to develop this idea a bit and looking for more examples of this particular thing. I've included some explanatory examples I've found. [more inside]

I recently bought a travel toiletry kit from Target that included one screw-cap bottle and two push open style bottles. The second kind seem to be leaking, mostly because the part that you push down to dispense shampoo gets pushed down too easily and so it gets nudged by other things in my suitcase. Any suggestions for preventing this in the future? [more inside]

Help! I used to have a cookbook I bought at Target and I'd like to find another copy of it. I bought it around 2004 or 2005. It was wirebound and the most notable feature was that it was divided into three 'sections': the top was starters, middle was main course, bottom was desserts. You flipped the various sections open and mixed-and-matched your own menu. It had a lot of international recipes and I'm pretty sure it was originally published in England (based on language and measurements)

Target used to sell 3-packs of Merona brand all black (black waistband and black base) boxer briefs, but they've stopped carrying them. Has anyone who's tried these fantastic boxer briefs found a suitable replacement? They were the kind that didn't have a fly opening in the front. [more inside]

I grew up with a pretty mean guy for a father. Thanks to my therapist, I have come to realize that "abusive" does not necessarily mean "illegal," and while his conduct was never the second, it was definitely the first. I'm certain many people grew up in far worse situations, but he still screwed me up, and I still get the bill. The bill comes in many forms, but one is that I'm very prone to anger, and really nasty anger at that. I'm wondering how I can either express or repress this. [more inside]
After a week of what was diagnosed as some form of Viral Syndrome Meningitis, I just found a big target-shaped rash on the back of my leg. Looks just like the pictures. This started on Sunday of Labor Day weekend after camping. Now that I'm pretty sure it's Lyme Disease what should I ask for and do first? I'm about 10 days into the infection. [more inside]

Several weeks ago I bought a great orange cashmere scarf at Target for $25. It got stolen. Now I can't find the scarf at any of my local Target stores or on their website. Googling for orange cashmere scarves only turns up very expensive scarves. Are there any online merchants that might have this amazing scarf at such an affordable price?
A while back, perhaps on Boing Boing, I saw some artsy carnival throwing game target dummies -- the kind shaped like bowling pins, but with faux fur edging. I believe they were art pieces made for sale. I can't find a link to these (or the 'real thing' version) anywhere, probably because I don't know the correct name. Any help?
