tampondemonium

Is it ok to wear light tampons occasionally when not on your period, to help control vaginal fluids? I've always seemed to "make" a lot of vaginal fluid, so this isn't a recent thing, but has been bugging me lately. My flow/smell/consistency hasn't changed much, particularly since being on hormonal birth control. I know HBC causes vaginal dryness in some women, but it seems to have caused an increase for me (not alarmingly so, just a little more noticeable).

I don't like panty liners. With the sticky plastic underside, it's uncomfortable and is less biodegradable than some kinds of tampons. I would like to wear light tampons every now and the to help control and "catch" this extra wetness. If I don't wear them constantly, and only on an as-needed basis, how harmful is it if I wear a tampon without being on my period?

Tampons with "Fresh Scent"

Ladies with fragrance allergies! If you are allergic to most heavily perfumed products (lotions, cremes, laundry detergent) what are the odds of fragranced tampons causing some wildness? I accidently bought the "fresh scent" tampons and I am wary of trying them out...lest madness ensue.

Does anyone flush sanitary napkins?

Does anyone ever really flush sanitary napkins? I realize this is an odd question, but for the third time in my life (in three different apartment buildings) I have been informed that flushing "sanitary napkins" has caused flooding in my building. I for one, do not use sanitary napkins (and think that term is evocatively icky) though I understand that their packaging clearly advises against flushing them. Does anyone actually do this? Or are (male) plumbers just coming up with an excuse? Or are they actually using this term to (mistakenly) refer to tampons? Can any females or plumbers or female plumbers shed some light on this?

Any good info on the asbestos in tampons hoax?

Anyone know any good books or internet sites relating to the asbestos in tampons hoax? I'm doing some research on it, but I can't find anything more than surface level info.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, check here for the basic idea.

Tampon migration (yeah, you heard me)

Tampon-related question for the laaaaaaaadies... I've never used tampons because for me it's always been a case of "tossing a twig into a flood." Just didn't work. However, I've recently started using them (at 34) WITH maxi pads, just to kind of staunch the flow a tiny bit during the day so I can, like, move without ruining my chair.

Anyway, I'm finding that after about an hour, the tampon starts to "migrate" its way out and it's driving me nuts. I use OB brand, super duty, no applicator, and those bad boys are pushed IN THERE by god. I mean, really, they can't go any farther. Is this normal? Has anyone else ever exeprienced the Great Tampon Migration? If so, any clues what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it?
