TAKE

We called this Scrabble variation "Take," but it seems no one else calls it that. What's the most common name? Back at college, we basically threw away the Scrabble board and played "Take" instead. Rules: turn over all of the Scabble pieces (usually from two sets of Scrabble so there were a ton of letters), and everyone begins with seven letters. The first person to make a word/words with those tiles (e.g. one seven-letter word or two interconnected words, like d-o-g, and then playing off of the -g- with g-a-m-e-s) yells "TAKE," and everyone has to take another tile.

So basically, everyone is building their own personal Scrabble board off of the letters they draw, and every time someone has used all of their personal letters, they yell "TAKE." To win, you are the player to yell "TAKE" when there are no more letters left in the pile. Then the other players check your interconnected words to make sure everything is kosher, and then you've won.

The name "Take" seems to be specific to my college; Of maybe the 30 people I've mentioned the game to in NYC, none of them have even heard this particular variation, and all are regular Scabble players. The only time I've met someone who has played a similar Scrabble variation called it by another name (can't remember what).

I've searched Google high and low for proof that we're not the only people playing this variation, but I can't find anything under "Take," and I can't seem to locate it by a different name.

HALP! Are we the only ones playing Take; or, under what name is everyone else playing under?

Please help me take off my shirt!

Okay so I'm about 30lbs over my ideal weight and live a relatively sedimentary lifestyle. I smoke about a pack a day, and don't really watch what I eat.. Despite all that, I'm a great guy with a lot of friends and I have a absolutely smoking hot awesome wife who's in perfect shape. It's a total "King of Queens" situation I guess :)

Here's the thing, as outgoing as I am, and as confident as I act, I'm mortally afraid to take off my shirt in public.

I guess I fear that its disrespectful to the other people at the pool / beach. I mean, who wants to see my pale gut & love handles? But on the other hand I feel like life is passing me by. I'm 33 years old and have passed up countless activities and potential fun times because of this "fear".

Obviously my wife has seen me shirtless / naked a million times and is totally cool with it, and so am I. But when it comes to a group setting or public place I'd rather not even go if it means the chance of having to go shirtless.

I know I'm an awesome guy, a great husband etc. And I see plenty of other people who look similar to me going shirtless and no seeming to care. Why can't I get to that place?

How to form an alliance with the IRS?

How do I bust my employer for TAX FRAUD? Yes, my employer is TOTALLY defrauding the government. He runs a retail business (about $15M Gross/year) in California. I have ALL sorts of documentation about not reporting large sums of cash (3-4M during christmas season), all sorts of documentation about where that money is physically kept, and a written discussion about how they get around good accounting.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either about how open they were about all fraudulent activity. The employers also are HORRIBLE to all the employees...they scare them into subservience. So i want to bust them!

How do I do this? If you're going to refer me to this, yeah, I've been there and done that. I filled out the form, included ALL sorts of relevant info (tax forms, contradicting bank statements, emails, etc, etc.). I did that over a YEAR ago, and still haven't heard back. I also decided to do it with my real name/address/contact info. It wasn't even anonymous, because I knew how ludicrous it would sound to have ALL this concrete info about HUGE fraud. It really is crazy.

I understand that the IRS doesn't really have the time or manpower to investigate "my neighbor claims to use gel ink pens for work. But I see him using it for personal tasks". But this is HUGE. They have been defrauding the IRS for AT LEAST $1M EVERY year for 5+ years.

Anybody have any real advice. If you would prefer not to post on here, please feel free to message me.

Stay awesome, MeFites.

Take out Thanksgiving in Los Angeles?

I am trying to surprise a bedridden friend in Los Angeles with a delivered take out Thanksgiving dinner. I am on the East coast with zero knowledge of the area. Price is not all that important,
quality is however. He lives within a mile of the UCLA campus. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

US Gov't take on softwood lumber dispute with Canada

Please help me find more information on the US government's take on the softwood lumber dispute with Canada. Our key media (CBC and the Globe and Mail) are good about relaying quotes from Canadian sources, but don't really provide much other than interpretation (which I read as spin) on the US perspective. Before I get serious about this, I'd like to know what the US Gov't is saying, not what the Cdn. press says they're saying. Google doesn't offer much. Nothing of note on CNN, NYT, USA Today
