Why would one want a Nord Lead 3 as opposed to a Nord Lead 2 or 2X? I know that the original Nord Lead was completely outmoded by the 2 but since I don't currently know anyone who knows synths, I'm not sure if the 2x and 3 are improvements over the 2 and in what ways.

I usually gig locally with a Moog Voyager as my primary synth, but the band is going on a small tour and — though I have a nice ATA case — I have some reservations about taking such an expensive piece of kit on an extended road trip. I have a Korg MS-2000 synth kicking around the house that I am thinking about touring with instead – it's lighter, smaller, and a million times more expendable. Trouble is, I'm having a bit of a hard time getting good, fat, Moog-like sounds out of it.

I am looking for recommendations for DIY synth kits. I recently built the Weird Sound Generator and Voice of Saturn kits and am now looking for more to build. Does anyone here know of any similar noise-making PCB kits, or something else in general I should look into?
Thanks.

Was the "shing" sound in
this logo animation created with a synthesizer? If so (or if it could have been done that way), how? I have the typical audio FX software installed and would like to know how to create a nice synthetic SHINGGGG! sound.

I'm trying to get my guitar/synth configuration working -- a project I've been at for YEARS. I finally have everything but still cannot get it to work. I
think I need the right cable configuration (from the pedal to the synthesizer) to connect my Hagstrom Patch 2000 guitar and pedal to my Arp Odyssey III. But I'm not sure what that configuration is.

Our kids, 5 and 7, haven't singled in on any specific instrument yet (nor, perhaps, will they ever), but they do love listening to, humming/singing, and dancing to all kinds of music, and playing the various "minor" instruments we've got. We're thinking about buying some sort of simple music machine/synth to have in the house for them play around with. Any recommendations?

Name that tune.
This [mp3, 100 Kb] is a shamefully crude MIDI reconstruction of part of the tune in question. I'd place it around 1975, Moog type Top 100 pop music; sounds something like Hot Butter but is not. Any ideas what it is?

I'm looking to buy a music keyboard for up to £300. I basically want one that's as near to a proper piano as I can, but my needs are: 61 keys (preferably weighted), connectivity to a computer (therefore not much need for extra bells and whistles on the actual keyboard), touch sensitivity, option for pedal/sustain, and a really good array of spectacular sounds. Can anyone help with a make/model? I can't find anywhere that gives an unbiased view of buying a keyboard...
