Help me find a video, an animation of geometric monsters, set to the music of what I believe was a female British, composer. Orchestra. Synths. Huge sound. I first saw it on a link I found on Mefi (or AskMeFi, or MetaTalk), no more than 2 years ago, I'm guessing.
Hoping someone can recognize a sample that my brain is telling me was lifted from a reasonably mainstream source, but I can't place it. [more inside]

I've been given a Bolsa Bass synth (which is rad). It's kind of an art piece by itself, so I wanted to have it out at parties, when people came over, etc. But! It needs an amp. Can you recommend a good little amp for a bassy synth like this? Something that also looks cool on its own (and complements the hot pink + wood of the Bolsa Bass) would be a major plus. And something easy. Doesn't need to deafen anyone, just sound good in an apartment-sized space. Thanks!
Bedroom musicians - I need some tools to create basic drum and synth parts while recording. It needs to be stupid easy (as in "I am stupid, make this easy") to use. What are your recommendations? [more inside]

Can anyone identify this pad synth? In my sample collection, I have a sample of a pad synth playing a chord. I would like to either find a VST or sample bank that will replicate this synth's sound. Here is a recording of the sample playing at C5, followed by a short chord progression.

I usually gig locally with a Moog Voyager as my primary synth, but the band is going on a small tour and — though I have a nice ATA case — I have some reservations about taking such an expensive piece of kit on an extended road trip. I have a Korg MS-2000 synth kicking around the house that I am thinking about touring with instead – it's lighter, smaller, and a million times more expendable. Trouble is, I'm having a bit of a hard time getting good, fat, Moog-like sounds out of it. [more inside]

My girlfriend's son is in a band, and he wants to start adding synth/electronic stuff to his music. I personally some stuff, and could write some stuff up, but I'm looking for a really good basic overview of the technology (not necessarily too detailed, but if it got into details later, it would be ok, perhaps). I'm looking for funky jazz, with plenty of synth, an upbeat pace, and R&B influences, in the style of the mid 1980s to early 90s work of Chick Corea and Jeff Lorber. I've noticed this style tends to be copied in video game and movie soundtracks from that period, so recommendations for those types of music are welcome.

Is there a (hopefully free) Mac app that will let me draw (and listen to) a waveform? I just switched to a Mac 4 months ago, and I remember there being all sorts of little audio tools that did stuff like this, but now I need one that will allow me to simply draw a waveform. Now, ideally I'd like to paste in graphical or vector shapes (photoshop or illustrator) and use those as the waveforms -this is really what I'm looking for - like a line to waveform ability. Would an oscilloscope-type software be more what I'm looking for, and would that allow me to "dial" between the drawn waveforms? Thanks!
