I have a really stupid iPhone iOS update question. So dumb I feel embarrassed about it. I really want to avoid updating to iOS 6, but I need to get some pictures from my phone onto my computer and sync my address book. But can I plug the phone in and sync without updating automatically?

Mountain Lion iCloud question: I know iCloud stores files locally on my Mac, somewhere. Generally I use two document editors — iA Writer, which syncs to iCloud, and Notational Velocity, which doesn't. Can I set Notational Velocity to save its notes in iA's iCloud folder, so that it automatically syncs to iCloud and I can use iA's mobile apps to edit my notes on the fly?

In short: how do I sync all my contacts between Mac OS X Address Book, iOS, iCloud.com, and Gmail.com? Not as short: In olden days, I used the Address Book app on my Mac to store all my contacts. Everything in there would sync to MobileMe (and by extension, iPhone, iPad and me.com) and Google (for Gmail). After iCloud was released in October, turning on contact syncing between Address Book and iCloud resulted in a message that said if iCloud contact syncing is turned on Google syncing must be turned off. Googling tells me that lots of people are having this problem, but I'm not finding a solution within all the noise. What am I missing? Any settings to change? Any software? Thanks in advance.

I have a MacBook and an iMac and would like to keep the same iPhoto library on both machines. I'm comfortable with making sure I only change the library on one machine at a time. I've done research and it seems the only way to keep the library on both machines is to use rsync, but despite following some online guides I can't get it to work. Does anyone know of a user-friendly link that will help?

On Friday, I used Sn0wbreeze to update my (jailbroken) iphone 3gs from 3.1.3 to 4.0. Everything went smoothly, and I restored all my previous apps and files. I synced the phone a few times that night to get all my settings the way I wanted. Today, I plugged in my phone to sync it, but now iTunes is showing the "Set Up Your Phone" screen, with the options of either setting it up as a new phone or restoring from a backup. What gives, and how do I make it quit?

So I ponied up and got an iPhone last week after holding out for a year and a half. I'm head-over-heels in love with this thing! However, as is want to happen in relationships, there is usually one or two glaring flaws that emerge after some time spent together. I've found my one big gripe (so far) with the iPhone; photo syncing.

I'm looking for a hosted calendar solution, web based, that will support Palm syncing as well as iCal compatibility, maybe through an export type or something. Does anyone use something similar, free or otherwise? So, a web based calendar that I can host that allows syncing to palms and iCal date crossing sharing export match sync.

imacs and palm pilots and windows systems - do they play nicely together? i'm trying to help a friend figure out if his soon-to-arrive imac (his first mac since 85) will be able to sync with the calendar and contact software on a palm pilot. he currrently uses ACT at work (WIN), but is willing to change that to a different calendar/contact solution that will allow him to sync the palm pilot at home too, (and add info at home). any advice on simple solutions or best practices?

Cell phone question. Got an LG from Verizon -- but I suck at typing on phones, and the thought of entering the umpteen dozens of contacts I have has scared me from entering all but a few.
When I was on T-Mobile, you could add contacts online. Is there any quick and easy way for me to do something like this? I just want to type them, since it would take me six and a half years to enter them manually.
