Eating our way around the West

Sydneyfilter: An expatriate friend has expressed an interest in exploring the culinary delights of Western Sydney. For the purposes of this question, let's define 'Western' as everything west of, well, Newtown. We'll probably spend a Saturday exploring by train. My list of options so far includes banh mi in Marrickville and baklava in Lakemba. Where else should we stop and what else should we eat?

Good, healthy, takeaway food in Haymarket in Sydney

Help me find a relatively cheap, relatively healthy takeaway alternative to greasy fried chicken or chain pizza to feed to groups of volunteers in Haymarket in Sydney. My colleague and I are in charge of feeding groups of 12-18 volunteers, at around about 8pm, four nights a week, in an office in Haymarket in Sydney (AKA Chinatown). It's a project just starting up and we're concerned about our volunteers' diets, and our own. While we have a moderate budget, we're worried that we'll eventually all end up paying the more serious health costs of eating junk food four nights a week.

I'm interested in recommendations for places or companies who do reasonably healthy group catering who'll deliver at night to the Sydney CBD.

I'm especially interested in the kind of caterers who do meals that can be shared, rather than ones who do sandwiches and finger food.

At the farms gate...

I have family visiting me here in Sydney from overseas and I'd love to take them on a fresh produce tour of the Hawkesbury farm trail. Problem is, we have just one day, theres a lot to choose from and I'm not sure what would be the best option! Ideally I'd like a combination of beautiful Australian countryside with a variety of produce to pick from. Theres a lot to choose from and it seems once you pick one road you are sort of committing to that path.

For example, i was thinking of going along the bells line of road as it seems like theres the most there. However doing that means I probably miss Grose Vale and Bowan mountain, which look great. plus theres the other regions in the other maps!

Has anyone done it before and have any recommendations?

Thanks!

Great places to lunch in Sydney's CBD for under $15?

Know any great places to lunch in Sydney's CBD for under $15? Building on this question, do you know of any great places to have a sit-down or take-away lunch in Sydney's CBD? (Also, coffee?)

To leave enough time to walk there, enjoy a meal with a friend and walk back within a 45 minute lunch break, it would probably have to be west of Hyde Park and north of Hay St, but I'll gladly brisk-walk for something out of the ordinary.

My staple at the moment is Central Baking Depot on Erskine St, with coffee from Mecca. Laksa King also on Erskine St, Naughty Chef in Hunter Connection, and Plan B next to Becasse are also favourites.

Going to a conference in Sydney next week. Can anyone recommend some good cheap single serve eats in CBD? (Will probably live off foodcourts in Haymarket but was wondering if there's anything some native Sydneysiders could recommend.)
