A young relative who recently started a job as a CNA at a nursing home has been suspended because of a patient complaint. She has no idea what the complaint was or who made it, nor can she recall any unusual incidents or patient interactions. The director of nursing told her she cannot give details at this time, but told her she is suspended and that she's to come in for a meeting on Friday at a specified time. What can she expect? (I'd like informed answers only. Please do not answer if you are merely speculating.)
I suspect that my driver-side upper ball joint is the culprit. There have been groaning noises when going over bumps, and a sort of clattering noise when hitting potholes. This has been going on for several years, and has gotten worse in the past month. I took it to four different mechanics, two for this specifically, and two for general inspection purposes (the most recent, non-specific inspection took place about 5 months ago.) None of the mechanics found anything they considered to be a real problem (i.e. hazardous to my/others' safety/the car's safe operation.) The noise has intensified in volume and frequency in the past week or so, along with (new) weird vibration when traveling at certain speeds (usually over 40 mph), but only sometimes, and it continues as I slow to a stop, slowing along with the car (but doesn't start showing up until I reach a higher speed.) Today I noticed that the boot on the upper ball joint is cracked and the grease is leaking out. The passenger side ball joint is similarly worn, but no grease is in evidence yet. [more inside]
Hi all, longtime reader here, new poster. While dealing with multiple personal hardships (more inside), I had a lapse in insurance coverage for 10 days. This has snowballed into a major issue for me, and I may lose my driving privileges for 3 months, which means losing my job. Any and all advice/anecdata appreciated. [more inside]
My friend is applying to university after dropping out of a different school a few years ago. At his previous school he was placed on academic suspension for a semester due to absenteeism and low grades. The Common App he's now filling out asks if he's ever been disciplined for academic misconduct. Does this qualify? Should he answer yes or no? More details below, including the exact wording of the question: [more inside]
Brother suspended for three days from his high school in California, due to 1. "racist comments"- from an off colour joke and 2. refusing to tell an officer his name. How much should it cost to replace four shocks on a 1996 Toyota 4Runner? [more inside]
I bought a 1997 Honda Accord from my 21 year old Sister - the car was lowered as a "gift" by her one-time fiance. The original shocks/struts were replaced with adjustable shocks/struts. Or something like that. Lowered cars, if you don't know, ride like a wheelbarrow on a cobblestone road. I would like to buy, on ebay or whatnot, the stock shocks and/or struts to repair the ride comfort of this fuel-efficient car. What do I need? Shocks? Struts? Is the Shock also the Strut? Does Strut refer to the way guys with lowered cars walk? I'm at a loss. General information about what the difference between shocks and struts are would be educational. Specific information about exactly what I need for a 1997 Honda Accord LX would be ideal and much appreciated. Someone out there with a '97 Accord with great suspension who would like to trade it for a lowering kit would be even better! I can try to provide more information if it's needed, but I'm dumb enough not to know if more is needed or not.

Can a strut fail such that it doesn't move? My 96 Grand Prix has a rear wheel of which the suspension is a bit squashed in and stuck. It looks as though there is a bit of weight in the trunk, but of course there isn't. It won't compress when I push on the fender, nor will it extend when I jack up the car. Has anyone heard of this before? Can I do anything other than have new struts put in?
The new Ford Mustang, just like the last one, "features" a solid rear axle. Ford (and her enthusiasts) claim that such a design is for "performance reasons." Is this plausible? [more inside]
