What would a good Indian expression of suprise be? Specifically a pleasant suprise, such as the realisation that one is going to make a large amount of money, possibly from someone who is none too reputable. The Hindi (or other language) version and a literal translation would be most useful.

seeking Source for quote - something like 'Beyond Expectations to Surprise'. A friend reports reading some sort of personal growth book with a section or possibly a chapter on this topic. A long time ago. She has no idea of the title or author. It's been a powerful idea for both of us. What's the book? Many talk of letting go of expectations, but moving to surprise?

Which movies have the most interesting moments of specific, sudden dramatic turnarounds/"surprises"? (PLEASE, TITLES/RECOMMENDATIONS ONLY -- please keep this thread spoiler-free, thanks!) I'm interested in watching these movies with an eye toward what happens in design terms (sound design, camera movement, lighting, etc.) both during and just before the turnaround/revelation.

This 8 years old kid came from Madrid, Spain to New York where he was treated for a serious cardiac problem at Mount Sinai. He had surgery and is recovering well. He will leave the ICU soon and a group of friends from Madrid wanted to send him some kind of present to cheer him up.
I don't actually know the kid. But a friend of mine is part of said "group of friends" and they asked me to figure out what can be done.
Hire a magician? send him a bunch of toys? books? a stripper? all of the above?
I suppose the stripper would be a bad idea, what with blood pressure and all that. But I'm sure there are plenty of "special surprises" and original ideas for his age group and health condition.
Oh, and he speaks both english and spanish, so language shouldn't be an issue.

Surprise! Paul Simon's newest album works on an external CD player but not on either of my Macs. I assume this is a DRM issue (my experience, backed up by one Amazon review). The iBook says it can't recognize the CD and spits it out; the PowerBook says nothing and spits it out. Any ideas here, beyond bittorrent, returning the disc or initiating the class-action lawsuit? The label is Warner. There is no mention of DRM/compatibility on the disc.
