I get depressed when I can't surf. Sometimes it's just a day or two because of work, sometimes its weeks because of an injury or a bout of bad weather. The closest I can find to this on Google are runners who get depressed when they can't run. I realize this is a very first world problem. I'm not going to kill myself and the depression lifts as soon as I can surf again. I can perform my job without getting fired. I have mentioned my depression to my other surfer friends and, while they all itch to surf, they don't seem to get depressed.
I would love to get thoughts on:
1. Non-chemical solutions to not being depressed on days without surf
2. Deeper questions as to why my happiness is so linked to this activity [more inside]

So I'm looking for the perfect spot to live, based on the things I like and proximity to family.
I enjoy being able to walk to the grocery store or to the coffee shop or to a bar, restaurant.
Then , I want to be able to drive 30 minutes or less to a beach break with fairly consistent surf.
I surf year-round. I would like this not yet know town to be somewhere between NJ and Maine.
Easy access to a major metropolitan area by public transportation is a definite plus.
I'm not thinking about the cost of living right now.

Now that FUELTV doesn't exist anymore (it was a great network full of all kinds of extreme sports and lifestyle related programming, from contests to profiles of athletes to other things). It was all I really liked to watch (think of a typical football-loving guy losing SportsCenter all of a sudden.) [more inside]

We're looking for a 5-7 day surf school to give my sister as a graduation (from grad school) gift. She's fluent in Spanish, and doesn't need anything super luxury, just good instruction, good break, good vibes. Any ideas? [more inside]

I have a nice Telecaster. Trouble is, I like making surf sounds. Would I ruin it by fitting a Bigsby or some other tremolo?

I went surfing for the first time recently, and had a hard time doing the "hop up" on the surfboard -- my feet always tended to be too close together, and I just lacked agility. What are some exercises I could do that would strengthen the relevant muscles and/or otherwise make me a hop-master? Thanks.
