Single man on vacation not seeking wife

I have a week to spend in Queensland (or Nthrn NSW) (I live in Brisbane). I want to chill out and be near beach and rainforest. Dont need nightlife, perfect cafe lattes or room service. Trying to keep the cost down... any ideas from aussie mefites? The amount of info on the web is well... overwhelming. I'm looking for recommendations. I have several weeks to make my reservation. I have no car and cant drive but would like to hire a bike. And I will be alone. The obvious option is camping but I have no camping equipment. Whale watching could be good

I'm 34, fit, need a break and will be doing this after 5 days living it up in Melbourne. Need to chill out. Please help.

Needing Some Sunshine

I'm trying to find a book centered around the song "You Are My Sunshine". Long story short, I sing this song to my 3 year old nephew all the time, whether rocking him to sleep or just playing with him. They recently moved and whenever he misses me, he sings this song to himself. (Yeah, quite the tear-fest when I heard this)

Anyway, I'm trying to find a book that sort of illustrates the lyrics or ideals of this song. I don't know if this exists even.

I did find one book, but it was out of print or unavailable.

I don't want a DVD or video or anything, either, just a book.

Help?

Two stories from San Fran planning history: sunny plazas and small parcels for small builders. Details?

I'm trying to track down two stories about recent urban planning history in San Francisco: 1) making sure plazas stay sunny at lunchtime, 2) making sure small builders could help redevelop a large area. Do you know these stories? Do you know of good online sources for San Francisco urban planning history? The first story, as I remember it, is that sometime (1970s? 1980s?), a researcher proved that people use San Francisco plazas that were sunny at lunchtime and did not use plazas in the shade. This research led to some guidelines about the height of new buildings to keep plazas sunny at lunchtime (via a citizen ballot campaign? a city law? a city planning document?).

This sounds obvious in retrospect, and is relatively standard planning practice now, but at the time it was fairly novel. Do you remember this happening? Have you seen it written up somewhere? I'd love to track down or confirm the details. My google searches have been confounded by a city law called the Sunshine Ordinance.

Another story I remember is that, as the area around the opera house (?) was being redeveloped, planners divided it into small parcels and would not allow anyone to buy more than two adjacent parcels, to ensure that small local builders did the construction rather than big developers.

If you recognize either of these stories, know any places that they might be written up, or know any other great online sources for San Francisco city planning history and lore, please let me know. Thanks!

How to fade or even out a real tan.

I tan super easily, I spent the afternoon in the sun. Now I have a farmer tan. I need to wear a sleeveless dress next weekend - how do I even out the tan lines in a safe way? For reference purposes, I have medium olive-tan skin to begin with (I'm Indian, relatively light skinned for an Indian girl though, I guess), and I tan super easily. Today I was outside for 2.5 hours in direct sunlight and didn't put on any sunscreen (oops, bad idea) and now I am very tan on my forearms, but pale on my upper arms and shoulders (not to mention my chest now has a v-neck tan - argh!). Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Find my buddy an anniversary in the sun

Help me find a romantic holiday destination for my friend's anniversary... What he is looking for is something with a little bit of culture, a little bit of history, some decent nightlife (but not filled to the brim with English pissheads). Budget is £600 per person (inclusive of flights and hotel, no car) and will be flying out of the UK sometime around late February - the anniversary falls on the 21st. The destination must have good weather. I have suggested Greece amongst other ideas but the weather isn't exactly fantastic according to weather reports. Help me make a friend's special day even more special.

What philosophies of personal identity are out there?

What philosophies of personal identity are out there? I just got done re-watching Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, and I'm curious, but a google search gives me a bunch of product, two hits and then a game. I wanna know what philosophers and what of their works I should go get at the library and read.
