Please help me find the brand of these glasses. I found this picture online some time ago and I haven't found a description, a label or a model for them. I browsed through lots of vintage shops that sell sunglasses, but I still haven't come across these. The actual pair I'm looking for isn't gold, but silvery or chromish. So I thought maybe the dear Askmefites could help me out on this one. I'm looking for the brand, bonus points for online shops that sell them.

Can anyone ID the sunglasses Betty Draper wears in the Mad Men episode that aired on Sept. 27 or suggest similar ones? Photo link inside. I don't actually watch Mad Men (yet), but I read the blog Project Rungay and one of the shows they recap is Mad Men. The picture at the top of this blog entry shows the sunglasses I'm looking for. I know it's very likely that they're vintage. If anyone either knows the brand of the sunglasses or knows of some similar ones available today, it'd be very helpful in my fashion quest.

Ray Bans Warranty

Have any of you sent off a pair of ray bans to be fixed via warranty w/ out receipt? Last christmas my friends gave me an awesome pair of ray ban wayfarers as a gift and I've enjoyed them ever since. Recently however, one of the "Ray Bans" logos has become loose on one of the arms. Its not too big of a deal right now but it really bugs me to know that it could eventually fall off.

I do not have the original receipt but I know they are still in warranty. Have any of you guys dealt with this situation and if so, how did it work out? Should I try sending them in anyways?

I broke my boyfriend's sunglasses while wrestling (no, really). I'm looking for another pair; shape is more important than color. They were purchased at Rag-o-Rama, which is basically the same as Buffalo Exchange or maybe Plato's Closet for hipsters. We no longer live anywhere near Rag, and I'll be sneaking off to sleuth out the local (Lakeview Chicago) resale shops, but I KNOW I've seen glasses like this online.

I've already checked every embarrassing store I can think of that sells cheap accessories for teenagers...Fred Flare, Delia*s, Pac Sun, Wet Seal, Hot Topic, F21, Target...if you can think of stores that sell cheap trendy sunglasses but are too lazy to check their stock, just mention the name.

These are pretty close, but seem too small. These are better, but his only other pair of sunglasses (which he doesn't like as much as the ones I broke, of course) are pink.

They're not Wayfarers. A replacement doesn't have to be exact, but he likes the fact they're larger and rounder than Wayfs, not too girly, and are brightly colored with dark (not mirrored, not clear) lenses. It seems like I saw this style everywhere UNTIL I HAD TO FIND IT, so if you know how to describe the frames, plz do tell kthx.

I recently lost my sunglasses, and now I'm looking for a pair to replace them. Something <$100, polarized, good quality sharp lenses, and reasonably stylish preferred. Any recommendations? The sunglasses I had before were Anarchy brand. I liked how they felt, and the lenses were great, but I wasn't too hot on their appearance.

Sunglasses that can be used in a range of activities, from hiking/camping, sailing, hanging out on the beach, etc. are good.

I'm not really that sure what style of sunglasses are fashionable right now, but I don't want anything dorky. (FWIW, I'm male)

Any recommendations of both brands and specific models would be much appreciated!

Knock me out with some cheap sunglasses

A friend let me try on his $100+ sunglasses. I was amazed at how sharp everything looked and how I could wear them indoors and was able to see everyone clearly. Are there any cheap sunglasses with great lenses? The originals were Serengetis. I've seen used pairs on Ebay for about $30. I have an 800 mile drive coming up and something that works really well would be nice.

I've cracked the lens on a pair of designer sunglasses. Where and how do I get them fixed? The sunglasses are made by Mosley Tribes but the manufacturer's website does not provide any repair info. The lenses are not prescription. Will any optician/sunglass store be able to put in a new lens (or maybe, put in two new matching lenses)? If lens replacement is simple and I'm asking for new lenses, is there any particular kind of lens/coating I should be asking for? Thanks

I have a pair of safety glasses that I think would make cool sunglasses. Is there anywhere I can send them to have the original lenses removed and replaced with sunglasses lenses? The sunglasses lenses don't have to be of particularly good quality, cheaper is most certainly better here.

Help me identify these sunglasses. I bought them in a thrift shop and wore every day for two glorious years before loosing them. There was no brand name. The frame is black with yellow specks, the lenses are yellow. I need to find either the same or similar pair. Unfortunately, most yellow lens sunglasses are made for cycling while these were sleek and elegant. Please help.

Looking to update this question: For the glasses-wearers out there, who makes good prescription sunglasses geared toward road cycling? In 2005, it appears the big players in prescription sunglasses were Oakley, Rudy Project, and Bollé. Now I see that the bike catalogs have gotten hip to the game and are offering choices too.

What have you tried, and what did you like?

Where can I find these sunglasses!? The guy at 1min30secs in this video has rayban wayfarer style sunglasses that are black with a white trim/edge. Can someone find these online for me? How can i get rid of my white panda eyes after a skiing holiday? After wearing sunglasses while skiing, that area remained white while the rest of my face tanned!
What can i do about this? Ideas that come to my mind are to continue tanning with a balaclava or to apply some kind of make up that will cover it up/even it out.
If anyone really needs a picture to answer my question, i can take one!

Rudy Project or Oakley? I find myself in the market for new cycling sunglasses. I've been getting along in recent years with a succession of cheap, not-so-good shades, and I'm tired of making do with what's on sale and what's cheap. I decided to take the plunge and spend serious money on a good set of glasses.

What I want from my optics:

1. Wrap-aroundness - I have a wide face and thus need wider lenses that wrap around a bit to keep wind out and yet still preserve peripheral vision.
2. Interchangeable lenses - I plan on using them mostly as sunglasses but I would also like the option to use them as clear visors in the winter/darkness.
3. Tallness, for lack of a better word - the aforementioned wide face is also a large one (Hat size 7 3/4) so I need some lenses that have height and width.

I'm looking to spend no more than about $150-170, but can go to $200 if something is really good.

So far the two I'm contemplating are the Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ and the Rudy Project Rydon. Does anybody have experience with either of these glasses? Is there another brand/style that I should consider?

Polarized Caravan for less than an arm and/or leg

I really love the Ray-Ban Caravan (RB3136). I really wish it had polarized lenses. Can you help me find a similar style? Yes, there is one option available from Ray-Ban. It's a limited edition model of the Caravan with some crazy new lens polarization tech. Only 1K were made, and it's $500. Considering normal Caravans can be had for $80 online, that's a bit steep! So I'd really like to find something with a similar design that has polarized lenses.

I sail, and glare is killer without polarized lenses, lest you ask why I'm so attached.

Where can I find modern glacier style sunglasses?

I recently saw a picture somewhere that had a model wearing a pair of aviator-like sunglasses that had metal blinders on the sides. I guess the style is the same as glacier/mountaineering sunglasses but less functional and more fashionable. Does anyone know who makes glasses like these? I'm familiar Julbo who that make ones with leather side pieces, but I'm looking for ones closer to the picture I saw, sunglasses design with fashion in mind and not mountain climbing. Which pair of currently manufactured Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses are most similar to the ones first made in 1937? The Ray-Ban website provides a *horrible!* user experience. Someone I was thinking I'd find a pair marketed as "The Original Aviators" or some such, but no dice. Wikipedia shows a picture of the RB3025 in black on the page about the glasses, but I'm pretty certain the originals were gold with green lenses.

Any Ray-Ban historians around?

Remove silk-screening from sunglasses?

How can I remove silk-screened printing from one lens of my new polarized sunglasses without ruining them? My wife, who is an an optician, bought me a decent pair of Ray Ban sunglasses as a present. I'm really happy with them -- they are the first pair of > $20 sunglasses that I've owned in my 37 years.

There is one thing about them that annoys me, though. On the upper corner of one of the lenses, there is a white, silk-screened "Ray Ban P" label. I think this looks pretentious and I want to get rid of it. Does the hive mind have any tried and true ideas for removing this without ruining my glasses? TIA.

Stylish men's sunglasses for a narrow face

Can you help me find stylish men's sunglasses that look good on a very narrow face? Men's sunglasses usually look cartoonishly big on my long, narrow face. I like styles like classic Wayfarers or various styles of Aviators, but they always seem to run big. Is there a sizing chart I don't know about? Are there particular brands/styles that typically run a bit smaller?

I guess ultimately I would like something that looks attractive and "classic", rather than something you'd see on hotchickswithdouchebags.com.

If I could try them on it would be ideal, but I live in a small town with no selection :/ I'd almost surely need to buy them online.
