My roommates and I are going abroad for the month of July. We're American college students; we'd like to go somewhere warm and cheap for a month. The thing is, we're not necessarily looking to go backpacking the whole time. I'm searching for a place that's super cheap, warm, and close to the ocean where we can write/relax/make music for a month. Shoestring budget here, and we don't mind dumpster diving. In the past I've sublet an apartment in Paris for two months for really cheap and just lived there to explore the city. Does anything spring to mind that's coastal and doable?

Girlfriend and I are looking to get away this August, and we're looking for destinations. We want to spend ~10 days relaxing, experiencing some natural beauty, being warm, eating delicious food (both of the restaurant variety and the pick-up-bread-and-cheese-from-the-local-vendor variety) and generally unplugging from day-to-day life. Not big partiers, but we'd frequent the local cafe/pub. Something like a little cottage in the south of France would be our dream, but we're working with a budget of ~$4000 all-inclusive, so France may have to wait. We're 30ish and live in Boston. Idea us please!

So the days are getting longer and warmer, and I find myself in the need of some decent clothing, varying from casual to business casual.
I'm on the heavier side and thus prefer darker, more muted tones, but am open to other options. I'm also not a fan of logos but will pay a premium for good quality and easy to care for clothing.
An important consideration is that I REALLY prefer long-sleeve shirts and longer pants (i.e. I don't need more shorts), as I feel they make me feel more put together. They still need to be "breathable" though!

What educational opportunities and schools would you recommend me look into to take some classes.

I have some money saved up and I want to move to a new city for a couple of months and just volunteer/intern/work there before I go back to school for my last semester in the fall. Can you give me some advice about where might be best to go and what ideas are more reasonable than others?

I'm going to Paris in July and August this summer to take a
language course at the Sorbonne. Yay! However, my original plan to stay at a friend's flat has fallen through, and I'm going to have to search for my own accommodation. I don't know where to start... and my French isn't great. Help!

Hello! We are both academics, and have the summer to spend pretty much anywhere in the world. (We're going to be writing most of the summer; location is not important, but internet is.) We've spent a fair bit of time in the US, England and Ireland, and have travelled but not lived anywhere else for a substantial amount of time.
Considerations would be money (cheaper would be better, but we feel we could live on a budget in say, Paris); season (Paris may not be so great in the summer if it's hot and touristy); good internet (see above); and healthcare (one of us has a minor health condition that may need occasional treatment -- we're not talking Mayo Clinic but a place where there are some reliable doctors. Our insurance covers us outside the US.) Weather -- i.e., not crazy hot, or if it is hot, AC -- is a smaller consideration.
We like both cities and country -- no obvious preference. Oh, and we don't have any kids.
Any ideas? Thanks!

For a variety of reasons, the second half of August is turning into a better time for us to take a vacation than October, as we had originally planned. We are hoping to go to Venice. We're OK with heat and humidity. Is there some other dealbreaker I'm not aware of?

I rented an apartment in Bonn on very short notice, and it turned out to be a loft. When he weather was cold it was ok, but once it got to 85 degrees it became unliveable.
Of course there is no ac, so me and my pregnant wife went to a hotel till it cools off.
Is there anything we can do regarding the rent? Do you think it's reasonable for someone to rent out a loft without mentioning that it is one? If I can't sleep in the apartment and he offers no solution but a fan, is this ok somehow?
I was referred to this guy through the institute we are visiting, so maybe the secretaries can make him pay if I have a case.

Probably no more than 10-12 days during the summer and we are willing to fly to a start off point. We like to linger. Preferably in the US or Canada.

I'm looking for a place to take the extended family this summer. About 20 people, ages 3 to 83 want to spend a week at some beach. Level of difficulty is we need 3 cabins/cottages/trailers/whatevers, and the location should be about 200 miles or so from Buffalo NY. So that would put us someplace between maybe Syracuse and Cleveland, and anywhere south of Toronto in Ontario. Closer to Buffalo is better. We're hoping to stay on a beach or as close to a beach as possible.
