I don't know a thing about menswear except that men sometimes wear it. My husband's one suit is finally done for, and he needs a new one by the end of the week. [He doesn't know much, either.] He wears a suit primarily for weddings and funerals, maybe once or twice a year. What style of suit will last him for years without becoming out-of-date?

I'd like to keep my button-down shirts tucked in to my suits better, but I mostly wear skirt suits. Traditional shirt garters clip onto your socks, so those won't do. Any ideas?

I had the sleeves shortened on two suit jackets, and when the tailor moved the buttons they left stitching "
scars" on the material. Tailor claims that dry cleaning the suits a few times would fix it. I say BS. But then again, I don't know much about this kind of thing, do you?

I’m looking for information about the men’s suit maker Kingsridge. It was an older brand, but apparently they're still around or someone is using the name. I’m just curious about the company, history, etc.

Where in Los Angeles can my (tall, rangy) husband buy a reasonably great suit for less than $600? Is there something like indochino.com, but in real life? Any experiences with Thick As Thieves?

I have to fly out to Long Island, NY (Nassau Country) for a funeral. I don't have an appropriately somber suit or the time to get one before I leave, and I am what you call "big" (135 kg) but not that tall (175cm). Where can I get a suit on short notice, that is not too expensive (max. $500)? I would prefer not to have to go into the city, but will if that's my only option.

UK shopping: looking for an interview suit for an average height bloke who is, ah, more generously built. None of the shops in Medium Sized Town have anything that's really big enough, so it's probably going to have to be online. And any general advice for suit-buying for the larger bloke is welcome!

Men's boots for suits? I am thinking of buying a pair of ankle or shin-high boots to wear and I want to know about pairing boots with suits. I would rather wear lace-ups than have a zip or a stretch band.

Aside from how long it lasts, is there a visible difference between a $200 suit, a $500 suit and a $1,000 suit? I'm thinking about buying a new suit. I own one suit currently. I've had it for 20 years, and I've worn it maybe 20 times. So longevity isn't a concern for me. I want a style that won't look dated over time and I want to look sharp, but I don't want to spend any more than I have to. How much am I spending, and where should I be spending it? I'm in Los Angeles.

I'm on a gangster movie binge. Reservoir Dogs, Boondock Saints, RocknRolla (basically all of Guy Ritchie's stuff). I need more in this vein to fulfil my craving for cool men doing violence in innovative ways. I'd like recommendations for modern movies preferably without the Italian mafia. Bonus points for United Kingdom focused films.

I have a job interview on Wednesday for a very interesting non-profit organization involved with animal research (for good purposes). All of my suits are skirt/jacket combos. I'm very short...too short for pant suits, and no time for alterations. The skirt suits wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have a huge tattoo on my leg. In my former career in creative arts, tattoos were acceptable and even commonplace. I'm not sure if this is a big deal with the new field. Nylons look silly over the work, and tights make me look like a little girl. Plus, it's very hot out. Is showing the tattoo something I should worry about? Do you think it will be viewed negatively? Any suggestions to help make me look more professional?

I'm tall (6'4"), I'm skinny (195lbs), and I need a black suit jacket before the end of the day today (I have the pants, but I'll buy new ones if need be). Obviously the time constraint eliminates any kind of custom garment. Basically, I need to know what stores I should be looking at in New York City -- I like a closer, more European fit, and I don't want to break the bank. First stop is H&M, but I'm not optimistic about what I'll find there. Other suggestions?
