Online resources for branding and logo-design?

I am looking for online resources for logo design and branding that contain the creative briefs, brainstorming notes, sketches, design process, and full style guides for well-known projects. It doesn't have to have ALL these things, but the more it has, the better. Books are welcome too.

Long hair, don't care; jk I care way too much

I'm having one of my sporadic SOMETHING MUST BE DONE frenzies and booked a haircut for the day after tomorrow but still haven't decided exactly what to do. I need help dialing it in! I have: A (very) round face, thick and straight Asian hair, length but a desire to go short, bangs that are overgrown but not enough to be not-bangs. I want: Killer shorter hair that feels modern and sleek and does not look stupid on me. GO. [more inside]

So I'm pretty much not looking for a suit on craigslist anymore, right?

I have a very very niche job. I've been doing it for over ten years now and have made about $28,000 per year. Because of my experience, I was called in for a meet and greet. It was going to lead nowhere. So, I pretty much blew it off, and blew the next one off, and showed up to the third because it was on my way home. They hired me and gave me a job that pays about $786,000 per year. I was told that they had reservations about me and told me they were bothered by the fact that I wore "denim with unpatched holes" at the interview. I didn't even think I was being considered. This is very unreal. And now I will have a job that pays me more in my bimonthly check than my last year's entire gross. I will be working with a different clientele, and my position will have more prestige than previously. So how do I dress? [more inside]

What mousse should I use for my hair?

I have thin, curly, short hair. I used to use Redken Fresh Curls Spring Mousse and it worked beautifully on me. It wasn't sticky, it didn't crunch up my hair and I was able to apply it, let my hair air-dry, and my curls would form, essentially frizz-free (in Florida's humid environment!) and look great. But now, Redken has discontinued that mousse. What can I replace it with? [more inside]

Trash my closet and start over? I don't know how to dress myself.

It's embarrassing to admit to being a 33 year old woman who can't dress herself, but my frustration is outgrowing my embarrassment. I have pretty much nothing in my closet that I like to wear, and that I feel I look good in. I wear nearly the same thing every day: jeans, sneakers/tennis shoes, t-shirt or slightly fancier t-shirt, and one of several ratty hooded sweatshirts, each of which has a hole in the left elbow. I dress like slob. I do not feel this look suits me, and I want to change it, but don't know how. [more inside]

Lookbooks for going out clubbing

I just got a Bonobos lookbook in the mail, and thought, "wow, these people are absolutely dressed the most stylish way possible for the portrayed situations." I just want to look at pictures of other people's hair

Seagull Salon in NYC has a tumblr on which they post photos of some (most? all?) of the clients who come through the salon to get their hair cut, dyed, or styled. This seems like such an obviously great idea - not only has it taught me about lots of new hair trends, it gives me a chance to see what these super creative styles look like on real people. If I were ever in the market for a NYC haircut, I'd feel confident going to Seagull. But for some reason, I've had trouble finding other blogs like this: my results are clogged by hair salon websites and individually run blogs full of tutorials and photos of celebrities and such. Do you know of any other salons that do this? They don't have to be the same genre of hairstyle as Seagull; I just want to look at lots of un-retouched photos of other people's haircuts.

need style ideas-- indie folk women

My indie folk band is playing a show, and I'm trying to get some ideas as to what to wear. I'm a short, un-thin (but I mean, not fat) asian girl. I'm also kind of a lesbian, middle-of-the-road in terms of gender expression (think My Drunk Kitchen). I like dressing up, but not the super girly stuff. What are some indie musicians whose styles could be an inspiration for me?

Tight singer, sloppy band

I've been enjoying the hell out of Van Morrison's recordings with Them, and Janis Joplin's with Big Brother. I've realized they have something in common: a singer with impeccable rhythm, phrasing and timing -- better than nearly anyone in rock music, and up there with the greats of soul, jazz and gospel -- backed by a much sloppier, garage-ier bunch of instrumentalists. To a lesser extent, The Who and the White Stripes have the same thing going on: I'd say their respective frontmen had "good enough" rhythm rather than anything brilliant, but they were definitely the ones holding the whole band together from the top, while the rhythm section flopped and flailed around underneath. So: where else does that combination show up? (Doesn't necessarily have to be in rock, either, though the examples I've got all are. If you've got some long-lost recording of Nas, Nina Simone or Elvis Presley backed by the Shaggs, now's your chance to bring it out.) [more inside]

Summer Wedding In Charleston, Need fashion critiques!

As the title states I've got a wedding in Charleston, SC in July. I'm planning on getting a blue seersucker jacket anyways, so I've been looking on how to put this all together. I've come up with two ensembles that I think would work best. The main differences between the two are the pants really...white pants vs blue. The shoes coordinate appropriately as white shoes/pants wouldn't really work. The shirt choices, white or pastel pink are negotiable, as is the bowtie vs regular tie. I'd likely pocket square it up as well. Opinions? I'm open to any other styles or ways to arrange it all. If it bears any relevance my girlfriend will be wearing this.

Need help choosing a rad pattern for a motorcycle seat.

I own a Kawasaki ZX-6 that I have done some moderate cosmetic customization to, including removing most of the fairings, reshaping the remaining fairings, removing the windshield, replacing the coolant tank and passenger pegs, and stickering the gas tank. The result is a street-fightery look that I'm quite proud of. Now I'm looking to get some custom vinyl printed and use it to recover the seats. I need help choosing a pattern. [more inside]

How does an artist/designer forge a "signature style"?

I've always had a problem with finding a "signature style". How does an artist / designer (even filmmaker) go about having one? Is it a natural progression from one's interests or preferences, or is it more of a calculated choice? My problem is that I am a chameleon, and my work is very eclectic since I mastered a lot of different styles which makes me virtually unidentifiable. I've always had the project dictate the suitable style, but I realized that this got in the way of finding a unique voice in the midst of a very noisy market. [more inside]
