I'm a 28-year-old lesbian who has always presented as very feminine: sundresses, tights, heels, the works. Lately I find myself really longing to dabble in more androgynous/masculine fashion, but I have no idea where to start. [more inside]
I saw this photo on instagram and I think I have found my tribe! Where can I find the pink dress on the very left or styles that are similar?
Can you help me find CUSHIONED men’s casual shoes or sneakers that don’t run narrow, that go with khakis/chinos and jeans, and are ideally, (significantly) less than $100? [more inside]
I'm in my late 20s and have been a bit of an eternal student, but I'm finally graduating and hope to find a job soon. I don't know what field it'll be in at this point, but office work of some sort. I don't enjoy shopping but I know I will need to look appropriate. The problem is that I don’t have a clear idea what I should be wearing, or the best shops (I’m in the UK) to go to. [more inside]

I wear cardigans every day, and I want to leave them open in front (whether they have buttons or not). But when I walk, my cardigans blow open, slide off my shoulders and then down my arms. I am constantly pulling them up or even holding them as I walk. What could I do to solve this problem and keep my cardigans in place? [more inside]
I'm getting the old familiar twinge of plantar fasciitis, which means I need to get more supportive shoes. In the past, Danskos have really helped, but I'm trying to be more stylish/professional and dapper, so I'm wondering--is there anything with comparable support that's a little more chic? Please note: I'm a dapper female person (so nothing very femme, please). [more inside]
I pretty much live in these Madewell ankle boots all fall, winter, and as far into spring as sweaty feet allow. What is the sandal version of these? Excessive detail inside. [more inside]
I've been slowly improving my wardrobe but somehow I'm feeling a kind of impostor syndrome--as though I'm just playing dress-up and look ridiculous. [more inside]
I love to look through pictures of people's progress of improving their life in some way. I guess I find it calming and inspirational. Where on the internet can I find more of this? [more inside]

this is proving impossible — the ones i'm finding are either sporty (like merrells, etc), look like granny shoes, or completely masculine, or have either a boxy or pointy toe. then there are ones with weird square chunky heels, or flat with no heel at all which looks tacky and cheap to me. [more inside]
I'd like to be able to shower and wash my hair at night, rather than in the morning. When I do this, how do I make my hair not look like I slept on it? [more inside]

There's a style of painting that seems to be very au courant right now, at least in New York. The paintings look -- I'm not sure how else to say it -- very amateurish. Like someone without any training taking an earnest shot at making a painting for the first time. What's the deal with this style? Does it have a name? Where can I find out more about it? [more inside]
I really like the clothing made by Lulu Lemon Lab. I'm looking for other companies that make clothing that is similar. Do you know any clothing companies that do clothes that could are a) comfortable like yoga clothes, b) business formal and c) urban in styling? [more inside]
I like clocks. And soon I'll be moving into a new place and would like to get three stylish clocks to put in various locations of my place. I want clocks that aren't exactly run-of-the-mill. Think unusual, conversation-starting clocks such as the Kit-Cat Klock from the 1930s (probably one of the three clocks will be a vintage black or red Kit-Cat Klock). I'm mostly looking for wall clocks and both new and vintage clock recommendations are welcome.
I'm turning 30 soon. I don't want to look ridiculous, but I don't want to give up my bright colors and girly style either. Help! [more inside]
I'm considering coloring the ends of my dark blonde/brown hair a bright shade of blue or possibly green (or both?) But I'm worried about hair breakage - my hair is very fine - and maintenance. And is this look still in style? Please tell me your brightly colored hair secrets. Or do you have other hair advice? Help a bored, tired lady feel more stylish. Thanks! [more inside]
I am desperately in need of some glasses like the ones Paul Bettany is wearing in these photos. Can anyone tell me what brand they are or where to buy them please?
There are artists set up in larger parks in NYC--like Central Park--who will draw you if you pay them. They have on display drawings they've done of celebrities. They are all in precisely, eerily, the same style. Why? How? [more inside]
I've been asked to edit a manuscript using the Chicago Manual of Style. I have only a glancing familiarity with this style from an editing point of view although as a reader/writer of fiction I know this is the standard in that publishing industry. As someone who mainly edits using (in decreasing order of familiarity) AP style, MLA style, and APA style, is it possible to give myself a crash course in Chicago? If so, what are the main differences I should keep an eye out for and potential quirks of the style I might not anticipate? [more inside]

Around 1996 I bought a dress from a mall store (Express or similar). It was short-sleeved, ankle-length, comprised of two or more layers of sheer, silky, solid-colored pastel fabric, and the style was that you would knot or tie up the top layer to reveal some of the bottom layer underneath. I can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere online - can anyone find an image of one of these dresses?

My hair stylist is moving from a commission job to a booth rental situation. I have always heard you are not expected to tip the owner of a salon -- because he/she is not working on commission. Does this apply to booth rentals as well? What about in this special snowflake situation? [more inside]
I'm in the very early stages of researching and writing a knitting project guide. What books can you recommend on the topic of learning to dress well? I'm looking specifically for books that help people of either gender plan, and possibly even make, a functional, flattering, stylish wardrobe. I have asked a very similar question of AskMe before, but that was 10(!!!) years ago and so many more style guides have come out since then.
I'm wanting to look more put-together and stylish for work. I work in a government office, live in a moderately cool climate (daily maximums from 10 to 40 degrees C), am 32 and female. Please help me do better! [more inside]

I got kind of a funny haircut (not on purpose). It's like the mid-'90s "butt cut" but extra long in the front. I have no idea what the stylist was thinking, as she did the two things I specifically told her not to do: no butt cut, as I have a serious cowlick that accentuates that look, and nothing that requires product, as my hair is very thick and everything I have tried is absorbed and useless within two hours. So what can I do? Technique and product recommendations? [more inside]
So, I'm a mid-30s genderfluid person who would like to start dressing in a more masculine to androgynous manner in a business casual workplace. Complicating factors? I've got an aggressively female body, short with hips and boobs that can't really be minimized, plus I am a fattie (US size 20/22) and slowly shrinking). So what the hell do I do with that? [more inside]
I'm a male with curly hair, and I feel extremely anxious whenever I get my hair cut. I just don't know what to tell my hairdresser! I prefer to cut my hair fairly short and then grow it out for a few weeks/months without having to worry about it, but I don't really know how to precisely explain that other than "uhh... short?" [more inside]
