A week ago I got mail stating that Citi had sold half of my student loans to Discover. I went to make my loan payments the other day to find that my minimum amount had more than doubled.

My loans have been transferred and split at least twice, usually without notifying me. There used to be a fairly easy to navigate website, but now that they are shared between myedaccount and edfinancial, or not. They are unable to give me clear answers. And now it's impossible to even find my full payment history online.
I'm not sure if I'm looking for advice or to be held. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Was lied to by my school about my degree-- required to commute--got a (not so random) grant from my college for transportation costs. Then I received a not-so-nice e-mail about my financial aid. How to proceed through these murky waters and still make it out ahead? (Rather long) details behind the cut.

Is it worth it at 40yrs. old to take out student loans and go back to school full-time for 2 years? The profession I am interested in has a starting pay around 45-60K and is in the healthcare profession, so jobs are plentiful. I would be taking out about 30K in loans and of course, losing my current salary. My spouse and I both make pretty good money, we have a 4 month old child, we own a home and have 2 car notes, but no other debt. Considering these factors is it worth it to take on that amount of debt at 40 to make that kind salary?
Is having a more satisfying career, being a happier person, parent and spouse (not that I am unhappy personally, just very dissatisfied with my career) worth the loss of salary and debt?
Is that fair to my family?

Sallie Mae decided out of the blue to take my husband's student loans out of deferment. We are both three years into a PhD program (kind of the definition deferment is based on, no?) and truly cannot afford the $700 a month payments on these. What can we do?

I accidentally paid Sallie Mae FOUR months’ worth of federal student loans, which totals an amount I can’t possibly afford. I asked my bank to place a stop order on the electronic payments but there’s a possibility the transactions may still go through, before the stop order is processed (3 business days). What can I do to recover my money now, or in the event that the transactions indeed go through?

Need to cash my Canadian student loan but I am in South Korea. I've been confirmed to receive my Canadian student loan; however, I need to bring the form to the Canadian post office so that they can confirm it. Unfortunately I can't seem to do it from South Korea. Last semester, I had the same problem; however, my mother sent me the form, I signed it, and sent it back to her and there was no trouble when she brought it in. They put the money into my bank account. This time, the post offices state that I need the power of attorney. What can I do? My classes have already started and I need to pay for everything.

I'm in college in the U.S., and have a few state student loans. They were under a forebearance that I once requested, which ended four months ago. I didn't realize this, and ignored the mail that was sent about it because I thought it was the usual mail they send me about how I have a loan and ads for consolidation. I just recently got this fixed and the forebearance backdated so it will have another year from when it ended. But I now have two 60-day late marks on my otherwise good credit report. Anything I can do to get rid of them?
