After dropping chemistry post-GCSEs, I find myself reading a couple of books about perfume construction that have made me realise that molecules are interesting, and that if they're written about for a non-scientific audience, I understand and am engaged by them more. How can I learn more without being scared off by Really Hard Science? And are there other books or articles which deal with the construction of scents and smells?

I need some help with motivation. I work best to set-in-stone deadlines which I will be in trouble if I do not meet. Unfortunately my current job doesn't work that way. I'm finding myself rather unproductive these days and I don't like it.

Can you name any songs or movies which feature palindromic structures? In terms of music, I don't mean notes or lyrics, but the sections, eg, CVCBCVC. Movie patterns would be more loose, but one could be settings, eg, starts out in a house, then a car, then a plane, etc, ends in a car, then a house. Another pattern could be the entrance/exit of characters.

I'm a freelancer with plenty of ideas for what I
should be doing to improve my business (and life in general), but I have a real hard time getting down to work without any kind of accountability or structure in my life. So here's what I'm thinking: Find 2 or 3 like-minded people and have brief daily check-ins via video conference to state our goals between now and our next session, and how we've done since our last session -- just keeping each other honest and on some kind of schedule. Where do I find people who would like to participate?

Please help me reign in iTunes! I want iTunes to automatically organize almost all of my music into folders of its choosing, but I want to prevent it from organizing certain folders/albums of music that I have. Is there an easy way to do this that I'm missing?

Is my AVG Resident Shield warning me of something important, or is AVG itself the problem? I've been running AVG on my computer since I bought it (in August). In the last two hours, every time I open a new program, Resident Shield pops up and tells me "the file could not be scanned, probably due to invalid file structure". The programs I'm opening are not new (games I've downloaded weeks ago, Google Chrome) and my computer is otherwise not acting wonky. What's going on?

Pop-rock songs with unusual/unique constructions, structures, patterns, tempo changes, time signature changes, instrumental/vocal interplay, etc... Stuff you probably don't realize upon a casual first listen. And not necessarily something obvious like "multiple songs in one" (eg "Happiness Is a Warm Gun"), or songs with no chorus.

I have recently realized that, without some kind of structure in my life, I am not going to be successful (in terms of career and money). The times that I have had structure (college) have been my most successful and productive. However, the idea of structure sends me running, fearful of losing the freedom and flexibility to do what I want, when I want. I can see rationally how this aversion has hurt me: My freelance business is dying, I'm out of money and I'm not much further along in my "career" now than I was when I graduated from college 10 years ago (I'm 35). It's obvious to me that not having an income will restrict my freedom and flexibility even more than structure would, but this knowledge doesn't seem to make it any easier to bite the bullet and make myself a schedule or apply for a job. How can I give myself the structure I need without it hurting so much? Or, alternatively, how can I cope with the fact that it will hurt, because I know it's a trade with a net-gain? I'm already working with a therapist on this, but I'm looking for personal experiences with similar issues. What techniques, books, videos or anything else have helped you?
