What is this type of string music?

In this silly video, at around 0:35s a cello starts playing in a way I haven't heard before. Is there a name for this particular style of string music? From where does it originate? Bonus points if anyone can actually find the music's source or even similar artists.

I just want to be able to shake!

A while ago I bought my nephew a plush toy train with a string-wound mechanism inside that shook the toy but made no noise until the string was wound down again to the rivet opening. I know for a fact the toy was discontinued. Could you please direct me to a company which sells string-winding shaking toy mechanisms?

Detective relationship charts

On cop shows, especially older shows, the detective(s) would often come up with a big chart involving thumb-tacking pictures of the suspects and victims, places of crimes, etc. to a big board in the "war room." They would often have yarn or string stretching from one picture to the next showing a relationship. After all the pieces were in place, they would circle their suspect with a black marker and cut to commercial. Is there a formal name for this type of chart or technique that is depicted in these cop shows? In general, where could I learn about how to organize complex sets of people, places, and relationships into an easy to digest chart? Many thanks!

My girlfriend received two pieces of art that came from a trip to Japan in the late 1940s/early 1950s. They're basically woven pictures, made from thin, dyed string. The thing is, we can't find any information on this type of art. Can anyone help shed some light on what it is? More details inside. [more inside]

Formatting strings

String manipulation in C#: I know that the String.Format method can format numeric data so that {0:#,###} transforms 1234 into the string "1,234". There are lots of standard formatters like {0:C} for currency, and endless ways to format DateTime objects. But is there a similar shorthand to format a string or to apply a mask to it? [more inside]

How do I replace my guitar strings?

Someone bought me an electric guitar two years ago. Maybe one. I never played it. Especially for someone who has no idea what to do. How do I fix the guitar?

Acoustic guitar - my B string keeps breaking.

Acoustic guitar question: I wonder if anyone is familiar with this problem. I have an old steel-string guitar, where the B-string breaks every time I tune it to the right pitch. Every other string is fine. Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Is it fixable?
