I start a new job next week at a local newspaper in the production end of ad sales...ie. design. This will be the first time I've worked in three years. I dumbed down my resume a lot to get the job, which I really want. It's in a small town, which I moved to three years ago and the paper publishes twice a week....small town....really small town. I used to work at a high profile 24 hour Cable News Network located in Atlanta, GA, which shall remain nameless, wink. wink, in a very stressful, high responsibility position...

Any time I feel like I am under any sort of stress or have a decision to make (even an easy one), I seem to go through these cycles of avoidance, which usually involve checking several e-mail accounts and web sites that I follow. Then when that is done, and I return to work, I realize the stress is still there so I repeat the cycle again. This keeps me from getting much work done. How do I stop this cycle?

Yesterday I caused a car accident. I'm a college sophomore and I've never been in a car wreck before. I have liability insurance so it only covers the other persons car and its going to cost $1250 to fix my car which I have no choice but to fix. I also have to appear in court next month to deal with the ticket or whatever. The whole incident has just weighed on my heavily. I can't get any work done, I am having trouble sleeping. I just feel awful. Does anyone have any advice on dealing with this kind of situation?

When work is getting far too crazy for you to keep up how do you cope? I've been made the lead on a project that was pretty out of control to start with and things have just been getting worse as the project gets more and more successful. What advice do you have for handling the stress before I find myself telling my CEO exactly where he can go stick whatever nearby objects are available for sticking.

I am under a tremendous amount of stress lately due to factors with my health, job, and homelife. I have tried all sorts of natural ways to control this but with no luck. My doctor has prescribed Ativan, which works, but gives me an endless headache. A past experience with Xanax proved similar. Buspar did nothing. I am already on an anti-depressant. Is anyone aware of any other prescription drug that I could suggest to my doctor as an alternative to the benzos?

I've been driving a car for about a decade now, and it's suddenly occurred to me that I'm now completely paranoid about anyone else driving me somewhere. I'm constantly checking the mirrors while they drive, and getting stressed because I think they should be braking sooner or driving in a different lane. It even happens when I catch a bus. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you get over it?

My life is overflowing with stress. I have a wife and a 3 year old. We moved recently to a metropolitan area and we are having serious issues adjusting. I may have miscalculated the financial burden of where we are living, although we moved here to make more money, in addition my wife is starting two new jobs and is now having health problems (which she is blaming on the stress). Neither of us are the most organized people in the world and family won't be much help financially (in fact issues on my side of the family are adding to the stress). If you've been in this sort of situation, how the hell do I get out? What is the first step?
