When I'm not in school, I feel like my life has totally dead-ended. I'm starting to think that stress and anxiety are the only things that motivate me. How do I stop delaying (and being terrified of) reality and finally become a real (adult) person? The details inside are super long, and I apologize for them in advance.

My father has just suffered a minor stroke (a cerebrovascular accident) which caused him partial blindness on one eye. This is the first significant health related incident he ever had. His self-image was one of being a healthy person, so this event is causing him a lot of stress, in fact I believe he is in shock.

If I am trapped in a meeting or group with a co-worker who likes to hear himself talk (I mean really pontificate)...how do I go zen on it all? How do I adjust my own frustration? He sometimes has an entourage/fan club which isn't my business but I get really frustrated when stuck with him. He also tends to show up in the same small group parties I have attended. Deep breathing doesn't seem to be helping. I'm thinking about a flask of whiskey.

Several months ago I had a bad anxiety attack. Since then, I have had an extremely heightened sense of self-awareness and have even become a bit agoraphobic (I understand this to be common after an attack). Common situations/activities that once felt natural, effortless even enjoyable (driving, shopping, taking kids to the park) can now induce panic because I over analyze everything. How can I return to my "normal" level of self-awareness and learn to go with the flow? Meds? Mind hacks? Cognitive therapy?

My 58 year old dad has been having a squeezing pain in his heart. It has happened a few times, and then just goes away. He went to the emergency room, got a lot of tests done including the stress test, and they determined that his heart is healthy. He has healthy blood pressure and has a manual labor job, and so gets a lot of exercise. The doctor said it might be stress. Does anyone have experience with this? My dad is ready to just try to relieve his stress, but I am worried that it could be something else that the doctor may not have picked up on. Any solutions, including alternative medicine? Thank you!

I'm a legal secretary at a Big Law Firm, and was previously assigned to two attorneys, Sam and Sarah. Because my workload was light, I accommodated each of Sarah's requests as best I could (Sam is every secretary's dream, and requests very little assistance). To my own fault, I spoiled Sarah, enabled her laziness, and now find myself stuck in a hole. I've been assigned a new attorney, Scott, who is both new to the firm and has a large docket. My workload has increased substantially - Sarah is used to getting her way, and Scott has deadlines coming out of his ears. I need advice on how to get a couple points across to Sarah and Scott.

I get snappy with certain work colleagues, sometimes to the point of being downright rude, and this upsets people. I usually apologise and we move on, but it's gotten to the point that it's starting to impact on my working relationships, and I want to stop. It's unprofessional, not nice for anyone involved, and bad for the project.
I need to find ways of managing my stress better and not letting it manifest itself in cutting comments or disparaging remarks or general rudeness. Please help!!!

I recently received a diagnosis which I have every reason to think will end well. After getting the news, I quickly became lethargic and dyspeptic--gnarly food-burps and no appetite. I am pretty convinced this is a stress reaction. Nothing my fore-brain says is helping, much, and this lack of control over my body is new and unpleasant for me. What have you done in such situations that's helped?
