I’m not a luddite, but I’ve been left in the dust by TV technology. Help us start streaming, please. [more inside]
I need something that can connect to the internet by WiFi, and to my receiver by standard RCA connectors. Ideally, I'd like to be able to select and control the music by a web interface or phone app, and be able to play music from my laptop as well as from various internet streaming services. What's the best option out there? [more inside]
Our just-dead entertainment system was a 1999 moderate-price set-up. We don’t need to understand why something is the best system; if it meets our needs (details coming right up) and it costs around $1500 we’d be delirious with joy. We're willing to buy an entirely new system, and/or happy to reuse the currently working bits. We're not audiophiles (we have mild hearing impairments). We'd like something that will still work in a decade. [more inside]
I was an early adopter of Google Music with the "all access" feature, and have been generally happy with the service for listening to my own library of music and adding new albums from artists I already know I like. The one thing I really don't care for is the automated playlists. Is there any way to improve its suggestions? Should I try to use some other feature of the service to find music? Or is it just not very good for this task? [more inside]
Just wondering if I should get a streaming media player, such as Apple TV or Roku? [more inside]
Amazon and Netflix are now producing boatloads of original content. w00t! Cord cutters rejoice! I love that they are making all this content that cord cutters don't have to get locked out of. I really want to watch and support a lot of these shows. The only thing is, I get the feeling they are producing quantity a bit more than quality. Help me unearth the gems of Netflix and Amazon originals. [more inside]

My wife and I watch a little bit of TV and are trying to figure out if there's a solution that uses the least amount of hardware and that's affordable for us. We are neither video nor audiophiles and thus 1080p etc. is not a crucial component for us, over minimizing cost, hardware and ease. [more inside]
Are there Chrome or Firefox add-ons that allow one to play Netflix content at double/triple speed? Seems unlikely since Netflix utilizes Silverlight and Googling hasn't turned up any useful options, but I figured it was worth checking. Alternately, are there add-ons that allow double/triple speed for streaming video sites other than Youtube?
So i have a bit of a weird one here. I'm aware that there are speakers that can pair to eachother so you can use two as a stereo sound pair, or just two at once(E.G. jambox mini, beats pill XL). What i'm looking for though, is sort of the reverse. [more inside]
The Community Radio Station I helped found uses Nicecast to repeat the signal from the station to our streaming provider. The problem is that if there is a power outage when the system starts back up Nicecast thinks Port 8000 is busy and so switches to Port 8001. [more inside]
I've been asked to establish two simultaneous live video streams and have been given the following equipment: a new PC tower running Windows 7, an Osprey 230 capture card with Viewcast's Simulstream active. Now what? [more inside]
As part of my quest to learn Brazilian Portuguese, I'd like to listen to Brazilian radio at least some of the time (preferably streaming through iTunes). However, what I'm finding online has lots of bossa nova (good) but pretty much no Portuguese (bad). Does anyone have pointers to stations that have both good music (my tastes are eclectic, so samba and forró are great but baile funk is great too) and DJs speaking in Portuguese in between?

I would like to know what options are available to me to enhance (or indeed the opposite) video streams - What I'd specifically like to do is download specific youtube footage (personal use) and render it with a jumpy black and white Pathe film-like quality. What would be the best approach to achieve this? - And please take into account that I have no Apple products to hand and very limited experience in manipulating the moving picture.
It's about 6 AM. I'm leaving my house at about 7 AM. I'm getting on an airplane at about 9 AM. While on that airplane, I'd like to listen on my iPhone 4 to an .mp3 file that will be posted onto the internets at about 7:30 AM. [more inside]

Does anyone know of a Netflix or Hulu type streaming video service that is accessible outside of the U.S., in Japan specifically? No doubt Japan has its own such services, but I am considerably less than fluent in Japanese, so I am looking for English and English subtitled films/television. Also, I wouldn't be able at this point to navigate the Japanese services' websites, so I probably am looking for a U.S based service that allows overseas access. Thanks a lot.

Using your smartphone, can you listen to online live radio while walking around your city? I'm trying to do this (with my iPhone, in Paris) and it only works if I stay in one place; if I move more than about 500m, it usually disconnects. I'm curious to know if others have the same experience so that I can determine if it's my carrier, the phone, the city, or just general limitations of 3G GSM networks. (Note: I'm not talking about Pandora or Spotify; I'm referring specifically to live radio streams which can't buffer minutes ahead). [more inside]
