HAAAAY, I was wondering if there's software or a website I could use to broadcast a movie file that I have, so that my friends and I could all watch it simultaneously. We could
all download the file to our separate computers, but I'd like to have it broadcast from one web-location so that we can all be on the same second of the movie at the same time. So that we can gossip about what we're seeing. It would only be like five to ten people, max. Okay, thanks!

Is one of the streaming services really great for a radio-like experience, with randomized and/or curated playlists? I don't want to have to build playlists myself -- it takes forever, and I can just do that in iTunes if I want (and in fact I have done that for years, but am sick of it). I would like to be able to pick a genre, mood or event, and have it be able to play songs for many hours. The ones I've tried so far have fallen short. [more inside]

When I stream video from almost any source, it gobbles up 100 percent of my CPU usage and becomes choppy and unwatchable. I've tried every trick in the book. Any suggestions? [more inside]

I have public wi-fi at my new apartment, and am able to stream Netflix just fine via a friend's laptop. I am not sure if there is a way for my Apple TV (2nd gen) to work here. I have googled around and others seemed to be able and others not. Normally when using my home computer or kindle tablet, I have to connect to wi-fi after a given period of time left unattended and then click "connect" from a browser page so perhaps this is why the ATV2 cannot work. Any thoughts?
Thanks and have a good Thanksgiving!

I'm paying too much for cable TV that I don't watch, and I am fortunate to have good broadband internet (both from Comcast in the US). There are only a few events my family and I care enough about seeing immediately on TV. The Tour de France and major league baseball are both usually available via internet subscription services. But what about the 2012 Olympics? [more inside]

I need to record one of these broadcast feeds

I have a CentOS server with a directory of some MP3s. What is the easiest way to have a radio stream setup so I can listen to them at work or on my phone? I looked at Shoutcast and it seems perfect, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to randomly pick something from a directory of music instead of connecting to Winamp on a host machine.

Can I listen to NBA basketball games on internet streaming audio? Specifically the Portland Trailblazers, but other might feel differently. Their radio station is 95.5 The Game
but when I clicked during a game the other day, there was a talk show on.

What's the best way to watch live tv (sports mainly) on a PC? My gf's parents have a vacation cabin with only internet access and they want to be able to watch live sports while they are there. What's the best option. Her mother asked me about "Digital TV for PC" but I think it's a scam. They do have full cable at their main home so I was thinking of advising Slingbox. Anything else out there that won't require me installing hardware at their main home?

What is the best software for recording streaming AM radio stations? There are late night shows on, some that have podcasts but some that don't. I want to 'set it and forget it' and have the results in an mp3 format.

I've just changed mobile 'phone provider to T-Mobile's Web'n'walk Max, which allows me 'unlimited' web access (up to 3Gb/month which is their 'fair use' limit). So, this means I can now listen to Radio 4 online (at 20.7Kbps live, I'm informed by my PDA) - but how much radio can I listen to before I exceed my limit (bearing in mind I'll be wanting to do a bit of surfing etc. too)?

I'm looking for streaming Japanese-language talk or news radio. Specifically, I'm looking for a live feed rather than short clips (the latter of which I seem to find tons of), and preferably low-bandwidth audio-only rather than video. I don't read Japanese, so searching is difficult.
