My wife and I watch a little bit of TV and are trying to figure out if there's a solution that uses the least amount of hardware and that's affordable for us. We are neither video nor audiophiles and thus 1080p etc. is not a crucial component for us, over minimizing cost, hardware and ease. [more inside]
Can you make me an IPTV ninja? I finally tried loading up some stations on XBMC/Kodi and I am digging it immensely. I'm interested in getting tips on IPTV excellence. Any users here? [more inside]
I'm looking for a good source of info on selling subscription-based streaming audio. [more inside]
We've cut the cable cord, but sorely miss big sporting events. Watched world cup through round of 16 on univision, then signed up for VPN to continue watching via CBC.ca. Would like to catch FIBA tournament, champions league, etc., but tough to track these things down. [more inside]
Our 9yo has (finally!) shown interest in searching for and listening to his own music on his iPod. Any suggestions for the easiest way he can do this where the music is either free to stream, or we can place limits on how much he purchases/downloads? [more inside]
Are there Chrome or Firefox add-ons that allow one to play Netflix content at double/triple speed? Seems unlikely since Netflix utilizes Silverlight and Googling hasn't turned up any useful options, but I figured it was worth checking. Alternately, are there add-ons that allow double/triple speed for streaming video sites other than Youtube?
We have a bunch of kids books we got through the iTunes Store. They have audio and video elements and are not available via YouTube. Is there a way to stream these books to our tv using a Roku device?

I ripped a bunch of my DVDs to my Mac so that I could put the cases in storage. Currently, the files sit on my hard drive on my Mac Pro, and when I want to watch something, I copy the relevant file to a USB stick and walk it upstairs to the TV, where the Blu Ray player has a USB input. Is there an easier way to get these files onto my TV (and ideally, iPads/iPhones) than walking the file around the house? We're an all-Mac household. [more inside]
I have a 12" Galaxy Note Pro and it's beautiful and the pen part is great, but I have a few friends who I'm looking at possibly playing D&D online with, and one of the things I'd really like to be able to do is scribble things on the tablet and have them appear at full resolution in something close to real time on the screens of my friends on their computers. But I have no idea if this is possible or what it'd be called if it is. [more inside]
So i have a bit of a weird one here. I'm aware that there are speakers that can pair to eachother so you can use two as a stereo sound pair, or just two at once(E.G. jambox mini, beats pill XL). What i'm looking for though, is sort of the reverse. [more inside]
The Community Radio Station I helped found uses Nicecast to repeat the signal from the station to our streaming provider. The problem is that if there is a power outage when the system starts back up Nicecast thinks Port 8000 is busy and so switches to Port 8001. [more inside]

I would like to buy a very small (20" to 25") television for my study. I would like to watch DVDs, Netflix, movies & TV from iTunes, and maybe even some over-the-air network shows. But I bought my last TV used in 1992 and all I had to worry about was an antenna. (It had a sweet integrated VCR. I taped Twin Peaks off the air. It was the best of times!) I know nothing, and am bewildered by the options. Help? [more inside]
I've been asked to establish two simultaneous live video streams and have been given the following equipment: a new PC tower running Windows 7, an Osprey 230 capture card with Viewcast's Simulstream active. Now what? [more inside]
HAAAAY, I was wondering if there's software or a website I could use to broadcast a movie file that I have, so that my friends and I could all watch it simultaneously. We could all download the file to our separate computers, but I'd like to have it broadcast from one web-location so that we can all be on the same second of the movie at the same time. So that we can gossip about what we're seeing. It would only be like five to ten people, max. Okay, thanks!
I want to read/write files on an external HD via both USB and over the network. [more inside]

My family and I are going to be out of the country for the next month, and we'd really like to watch the new season of House of Cards when it premiers on Valentines day. Does anybody have any advice on how to do this? Right now, I'm planning to get a TP-LINK TL-MR3020 router, install OpenWRT (and OpenVPN?) on it to configure it to access a States-side VPN, and stream Netflix to a Chromecast in our hotel room. Will this work? [more inside]

I don't have a TV, I don't know anyone who cares enough to watch them in real time, and I can't find a bar/restaurant that's playing them. Is there anyway to live stream it? I've googled every which way, and everything was a dead end, but I figure if there's a way, someone here might know it.
I am admittedly, new to streaming. I have followed every step of this guide. Justin.tv recognizes this stream because when I started it, it showed my streamed desktop as the thumbnail for my channel. But my stream will not actually stream. It just gives me a Failed to Load message. And on top of that, on my broadcast page, it only accesses my camera, which I do not want. [more inside]
The film streaming search engine Can I Stream It? looks very useful but only covers the US. Does anyone know of a UK version? Find Any Film is similar but doesn't cover subscription services like Netflix or Lovefilm.

I would like to put a streaming webcam on the front of a large piece of machinery as it goes about its daily business. The problem is that this piece of machinery will most likely be outside of WiFi range for the majority of its day. However, it will be within good cellphone/4G range. Are there webcams built to handle this kind of use? Any recommendations if so? (Or, potentially, could I just use a smartphone or something similar?)
Is one of the streaming services really great for a radio-like experience, with randomized and/or curated playlists? I don't want to have to build playlists myself -- it takes forever, and I can just do that in iTunes if I want (and in fact I have done that for years, but am sick of it). I would like to be able to pick a genre, mood or event, and have it be able to play songs for many hours. The ones I've tried so far have fallen short. [more inside]
My Comcast feed and the MLB.com audio feed are about 30 seconds off. Unfortunately, the Comcast video is running 30 seconds behind the MLB.com audio. When I had DirecTV the audio was always about 1 minute behind, so it was easy to simply pause the TV until the audio caught up, then watch it off the DVR on a 1 minute delay synched to the audio feed. How can I achieve the same result pausing the audio stream via MLB.com? Linux solutions are best as my laptop runs the latest Ubuntu LTS. Android ok too if there is an app that does this that I haven't found. Please help, I just can't listen to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver for another game, let alone the entire World Series.
As part of my quest to learn Brazilian Portuguese, I'd like to listen to Brazilian radio at least some of the time (preferably streaming through iTunes). However, what I'm finding online has lots of bossa nova (good) but pretty much no Portuguese (bad). Does anyone have pointers to stations that have both good music (my tastes are eclectic, so samba and forró are great but baile funk is great too) and DJs speaking in Portuguese in between?
What is the timeline for Disney movies appearing on Netflix streaming? [more inside]
I'd love to find a site like SomaFM which focuses on heavy metal -- or even different rock genre in general. Something with hand-curated, sub-genre specific music streams, of a known quality. There are plenty of places to find lists of individual radio stations with online streams, or random Joe Schmo's shoutcast streams, but wading through all the dreck to finding anything worth listening to in that crowd is more time than I care to spend. I like that when I'm in the mood for "something generally electronic and calming" I know I can pull up a particular Soma stream that sounds appealing and have it hit the spot; similar for Digitally Imported. Is there anything similar for loud music?
I'd like to be able to play my 30+GB iTunes music library in the living room, without needing a computer, and without spending more than around $250. I don't have a receiver, speakers or an iPod without enough capacity to hold my full library, though I do use iTunes Match. What are some good options for this? [more inside]
I'm looking for ideas for good, useful, or fun things to do with domains that I have hosted at Dreamhost. I have a blog, a couple email addresses, and an Out of the Park Baseball league on various domains now, but I feel that there's much more I could be doing. [more inside]

I want to stream my iTunes music from my DropBox via an iOs app called Tunebox. But my music's Apple Lossless, and Tunebox only handles AAC/MP3. So I need to efficiently recreate/duplicate all playlists with lossy versions and figure out where to store the darned music library. [more inside]

Is there a live streaming audio player for Windows that will add a predefined delay? I actually need a delay of 5-10 minutes and preferably the ability to vary the delay as I listen. I saw a delay option in VideoLAN but the stream never starts; I guess the delay is much too long for it to deal with.

I just purchased an underpowered computer to experiment further with remote desktops. Ideally I'd like to be able to use a remote desktop technology to stream HD video from the remote server, play a game on the client that's rendered on the more powerful server, and to have a local user work on the remote serving computer while another account on the server is being accessed remotely by the thin client. A con I help run has video art programming which we'd like to stream to people who cannot attend the convention. Hence I'm looking for a service that would allow me to upload, say, an mp4 and schedule when it would begin streaming. [more inside]
