If you knew someone who had an instinctive grasp for tactics and strategy--a person who could, given a specific scenario, immediately determine the most effective course of action for winning a battle or a series of engagements--but who could not serve in the military due to specific physical limitations, what would you advise him to pursue as far as education and career choices, to make the most of this ability?

There's some game on the 360 that exists or was in development at some point in the past year that is a strategy game using hexagon shaped "towers" of land as a board. I think it was turnbased and used words (but not sure about the words part - but I think it involved a scrabble like setup) Somehow you would "stomp" the hexagon shaped towers and they would slowly lower until a certain point then they would fall making the play area smaller. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Does anybody know of a computer game that is what I would call "Parallel Strategy"? That is, it's not realtime in the sense that there are discrete turns, but it's not turn based, because plays are not sequential, but played in parallel (that is, all players make their moves in the alloted time for the turn/round). When the time is over for that round, conflict resolution rules happen...

What is the best way to approach an author for an interview? I'm assuming I go through the publisher, although this author has published just one book. Since I'm a student/independent journalist, I'm wondering whether my email is likely to be forwarded along to the author. My feeling is the author may be interested, but since it's a student piece it's unlikely to sell more books. Should I worry about catering to the publisher in any way in my correspondence -- and if so, how? T

I'm playing in my first Texas Hold'em tournament next week. It's pretty low-key (charity fundraiser, $100 buy-in, $1,000 first prize, ~40 players). I've played in a monthly limit game for a few years, doing reasonably well. Any advice/websites/books that could help me with basic strategies for this type of tournament play?

Real Estate Pricing Strategy Question. So we're looking to sell our condo in San Francisco. After meeting with a broker, he said that we should ask $575k - $625k. He showed us numerous "comps" that seem to support his suggested price. But ours does have some unique features that make me think that it could go for as much as $650k. But I'm not a real estate professional.
Considering that a broker, even one we trust (he came highly recommended) is motivated to make the sale quicker, does it stand to reason that based on his range, a higher price is reasonable, even if it means that it takes longer to sell (and the broker has to work harder)?

Football (American) strategy question:
You're down 15 and score a TD with about enough time left to kick-off, try to force the other team to punt, then get the ball back with a chance to tie. Why do all teams opt for the extra point rather than the 2-point conversion?

Can anyone think of an example wherein a company built a separate website about its industry without putting its name all over that rogue site? For example, if Ford built and maintained a Ning (or other community-type site, I guess) about car customization, but it wasn't obvious that Ford ran the site?

My friends and I have scheduled a game of
Axis & Allies to play in a few weeks time and I'm looking for any advanced tips and strategies to assure sweeping victory for my forces. I've only played it a few times in my life and I've lost more times than I've won so any tips that expert gamers could give me would be great. I'll be playing the original, global map version, not the Pacific or European spin-off versions. I'll also probably be playing as Germany, too. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

I'd appreciate some recommendations for PC based strategy games. I've really enjoyed playing Age of Empires and Caesar 3 in the past and was wondering what other newer games I could try, that are along the same lines. I tried the newer releases of the AOE franchise but find that I enjoy games that are set in ancient civilizations more .
As far as playing hardware goes, my laptop has 2 GB of RAM and a pretty decent (I think!) video card (ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with 256 MB of video RAM). Thanks!
