My friends and I have scheduled a game of Axis & Allies to play in a few weeks time and I'm looking for any advanced tips and strategies to assure sweeping victory for my forces. I've only played it a few times in my life and I've lost more times than I've won so any tips that expert gamers could give me would be great. I'll be playing the original, global map version, not the Pacific or European spin-off versions. I'll also probably be playing as Germany, too. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

I'd appreciate some recommendations for PC based strategy games. I've really enjoyed playing Age of Empires and Caesar 3 in the past and was wondering what other newer games I could try, that are along the same lines. I tried the newer releases of the AOE franchise but find that I enjoy games that are set in ancient civilizations more . As far as playing hardware goes, my laptop has 2 GB of RAM and a pretty decent (I think!) video card (ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with 256 MB of video RAM). Thanks!

I'm looking for a battle strategy game in the tradition of the Myth series (or the old-school game "Siege"). Interested in troop movement and in-battle tactics, NOT maintaining economy/resources, spawning units, buildings, etc. (Warcraft didn't interest me when I tried it many years ago). [more inside]

I've been thinking about strategy a lot recently, and one of the things I stumbled upon that isn't really well covered is the impact of cultural phenomena on attitudes and actions. Are there general ideas in a culture's history that leads them to their view of the world today? I wonder, because different cultures have characteristic qualities that people pick up on. Where did these come from, and can we perform predictive analysis based on these characteristics? [more inside]

Redesigning an art museum website (content / design / strategy / the whole shebang). What would you expect to see? What would you like to see that they're not doing? What would totally blow your mind? What do you know they'll include that you just don't care about? And, on a slight tangent, best web examples for art museums? Not the content that resonates for you, but rather kind of information and how it was executed. Thanks!

Second question of the day (visio one just below was first) hope I am not pushing my luck. Have been roped into a poker game tonight. 6 players, 4 strangers, texas holdem, never played for money with more than one person, have no poker face and no basic strategy. Could anyone point me to a page or give me a golden rule or advice or something that I can use to get me through. I will learn the rules myself. Something I can get into my head in about an hour.

It's election day here in Canada, and I have still not made my mind up on who I am going to vote for. I am in Southern Alberta, so it is pretty much decided who is going to win here (last poll had the local Conservatives at 60%), Am I throwing my vote away by voting NDP? Or should I vote "strategically" with the second place party (the Liberal party, which I am not a huge fan of - mainly because of Paul Martin), as an "anyone but conservative" vote?

When my company discusses web design service with potential clients, they generally *always* balk and get ornery about the cost. Most of the time, we're working for small businesses, so understandably, $5-$10k is a substantial chunk of change for people to shell out. We don't get upset when we lose bids for being too expensive because we've always been taught that compromising our rate is not the solution... you simply can't meet everyone's budget. That being said, we turn away enough people who expect websites to cost $500-$1500 that I think there might be a market supportive enough to create solutions for. [come inside, won'tcha?]
