I need to puree and strain 3 gallons a week of food for family members with various medical conditions. This takes a lot of time with my standard 6-cup blender and hand strainer. Are there wonderful machines that will make my life easier? Anything that will lead to less batches? Quicker blending? Mechanized straining? [more inside]
Family dynamics are slowly driving me up the wall, but I can't bear to let things wind destructively. How can I cope without being caught in the storm? [more inside]
I use the computer for 16-18 hours a day becasue I have a online business and I have noticed my vision worsening since doing this. I really don't want glasses and have seen a eye doctor who said I don't absolutely need glasses my vision is 20/25 I think he said. I used to have better vision before I spent so much time on the computer. I'm wondering if there any any "techniques" used by OSHA or anything to prevent eyestrain or vision deterioration from excessive computer use .
hey everyone. A short while back, I was in a phase where I was straining alot when I was peeing. I was being very OCD about emptying my bladder is what I'm saying. I did this until I started to feel a pain in my abdomen as well as an aching sensation in the right side of my head. I immediately stopped. While the pain in the abdomen went away, the headache persisted. Eventually I went to my MD and he didn't seem that worried about it and said it would go away. The head sensation sort of changes often. Sometimes it's a mild to moderate pain and sometimes it feels like sort of a cold feeling on the right side of my head if that makes sense. i wanted to get you guy's takes on this.
I looked up this question, but my pain is my elbow and not my hand, arm or wrist. Googling seems to tell me it's "tennis elbow". [more inside]
I'm asking this for a friend, A. A has a pinched nerve in the neck that isn't getting any better. He has bad posture and sits in a cubicle all day. He would like to see a physical therapist for this, but has also heard good things about the Alexander technique for correcting posture. Which would you recommend? [more inside]

What colours are best for screen reading? I recently (forget where I) read that it is not black on white, yellow on black perhaps? Google surprisingly hasn't found me the article, or anything other that reconfirming that black on white really is the least straining on the eyes. Okay, thanks everyone!

My eyesight has always been great, and in general I see just fine. As a general rule, the world is not blurry and when I look at something, whether it be 1 foot or 20 (or 100) feet away, I see what I expect to see. I've never worn glasses. [more inside]
TwingeFilter: I was doing some lifting (moving furniture) and now whenever I climb steep stairs my right knee twinges in a "Don't push it" kind of way. The lifting was over 6 months ago. Will this fix itself or is there something I should be doing to assist it?
Yep, I've got a slight strain in my shoulder, which is bad. What's worse is that I'm moving tomorrow, so I'll need to be lifting lots of heavy things. Preamble aside: how do you treat a sore shoulder? Heat? Ice? Aspirin? What works best for you?
