Just installed a pellet stove..The heat is concentrated in the room where the stove is. Have a big fan in the doorway, but it is not drawing the heat out of the room.
How do we spread the heat around? How do you maximize air flow throughout the house? Any techniques or concepts we need to understand other than heat rises? Are there any websites devoted to this problem? Any suggestions?

We are looking for a moderately-priced glasstop range. Someone told me that Whirlpool, Amana, and Maytag are all owned by the same company, and pretty much the same. [more inside]

We are having a new kitchen floor put in. Everything has to be out of the kitchen. The propane company wants $130 to spend two minutes disconnecting and reconnecting our propane kitchen stove. There is a shutoff valve next to the stove. Can I safely DIY. How?

GasLeakFilter:
This evening, I installed the 1963 Kenmore Griddletop I'd purchased a few weeks ago into my kitchen. At the re-sell shop where it was purchased, I was shownthat all the burners worked, that there were no leaks (some sort of geiger counter). At any rate, I suddenly have a weird sort of sore throat, and I'm wondering if the damn thing isn't leaking. So: first, how do I determine if it's leaking, and two, what are the signs of low-level natural gas poisoning?
(I *did* shut off the gas valve and have range hood fan going, just in case)

I have an electric stove with coil burners that heat very unevenly. I also have a Cast Iron Griddle. I am thinking of putting the griddle on the burner, and then cooking with other pots/pans on top of the griddle, which should heat fairly evenly. Is this going to cause any problems? Will it screw up either the griddle or the pan/pot on top of it?
