We've got some silverfish at my current apartment, which I'm in the process of boxing up for two months of storage followed by a new apartment (I'm overseas in the meantime). How do I pack up to manage this infestation? My goal is to kill them off during storage if possible, but at the very least to keep the problem from getting worse. (Eg keep the silverfish from migrating from, say, my books to my clothes.) [more inside]
Can I use a single Ikea kitchen base cabinet without mounting it to the wall/using a ledger board? I am moving into a rental that doesn't have any cabinets on the side of the kitchen with the fridge and stove. There is space at the end/in the corner where I would like to put in additional storage. My first thought was a kitchen cart but now I wonder if I could get a single Ikea base cabinet (36 wide). [more inside]

What I really want is an 8TB hard drive with an ethernet port on the back side. The Intel NUC is almost right but it only supports a 2.5" drive at best. Is there a product that does what I want? It must run Linux but doesn't need to be particularly fast.
I own a macbook with 256 GB of space. I used to have a 1 TB backup drive but it broke, along with the majority of my media files; this is the second time in two years that I've had a hard drive go bad on me. I opted for a smaller 256 GB SSD for backup this time around as I heard they're less prone to failing, but it's too small for me to put on much besides my Time Machine backup. What options do I have to store my other files? [more inside]
Daughter's iPad 3 Mini tells me it's got 6.9 gigs of photos on it. I've removed all of them, yet this figure is unchanged. The computer it's backed up to has only 1.7 gigs of photos on it. What gives, and how do I zap this?
I have a small, one bedroom flat in London with no access to gas. I want to replace the existing (quite old) storage heater with something more efficient and effective. I often find myself looking for very specific furniture or home decor products. For example: right now I'm looking for a square basket (or open container) with a drawer in the base that measures no more than 11 inches wide and 22 inches long, and I was wondering if there was a way to search for home products by size, shape, and dimension in the same way you'd search for clothes by size?

We're looking for storage places in or near Hudson County to stash an apartment's worth of soot/smoke damaged (but not burnt) furniture and books, so they can air out for a bit. Obviously we need a complany that is not bothered by the current odor of the stuff, but we'd also love a place that had electric outlets in the units to run an air filter / scrubber for a while. I've recently moved to a new apartment, which is low on storage. It has one small clothes closet, and this closet-esque room. It's been referred to as a "pantry", but we're keeping the litter box in there. I just moved one of these tables in so that we can use the space over the litter box. That space is a little over 29" x 29" x approx. 70". Does anyone have suggestions for shelving units or organizers that I can safely stack on the table to maximize storage there for light dry goods and miscellaneous stuff?
Hi I want to find a SSD which is: -stable, long life, to be used as primary hard disk for my 5 years old Thinkpad X201 with i5 win7 -240G or above -no speed requirement as if it's better than my 3 years old Intel X25-M 120 GB -preferably no TLC -good price Thank you very much!
I have an xbox one and space is quickly running out. I have researched harddrives and western digital seems pretty reliable. If it's going to be used externally via a usb 3.0 docking station will there be any benefit to getting a black drive over a blue drive? The difference is about $20. I don't need it right away so I'm doing my research. This is the docking station I will most likely be using seeing how I already have one. http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-SuperSpeed-Docking-Station/dp/B0099TX7O4

So, I have boxes of vinyl records sitting in the bottom shelf of a built-in without much headroom. This means that every time i want to find a record, I have to pull the (heavy) boxes out onto the floor, select the record and then pull it back up onto the shelf. I would like to figure out a better way, ideally by installing a roll-out shelf (or set of shelves) for the boxes to sit on. [more inside]
