I'm growing an organic garden with a friend this year. This morning, we harvested lots of salad greens and I took a paper bag of them home. They have not been washed, and they are in the paper bag sitting inside my fridge in the crisper drawer. How many days do you think it is likely they will last? Is there anything I can do to keep it fresh longer?

I like to keep my home office incredibly devoid of machine noise. To that end, other than my sound system (where I choose the noise), my workstation consists of 1.) A Mac mini running Lion Server on Raid 0 3.5" drives (2 x 500GB) and 2.)A Lacie quadra 1TB drive doing Firewire 800 Time Machine backups every hour (I put up with the Tsk, Tsk, Tsk, every hour without being annoyed). I need more storage, but don't want to increase the (lack of) noise factor...

How can we store our kitchen sink dishwashing sponge to prevent it being eaten by our cat?
Rupert, after years of ignoring it, has recently decided that the sponge is a fun thing to shred and nibble on. Currently it sits on top of the sink edge on top of a spiky plastic soap saver thingy so it can dry. How can we store it so that it will be (a) easily accessible to humans, (b) not accessible to Rupert, and (c) able to air-dry? I'm imagining something like
this with a flap on top, for instance.

Helping a guy down on his luck, who knew someone who knew someone who I knew, I agreed to let him store a car on my property for an undefined time. The car was brought in on a flatbed, and placed. Two years later, we can no longer store the car, and need to figure out what to do. The owner has no money to pay to store it anywhere, and no place of his own to keep it. What can I do to a) find a new home for this car, b) make sure it doesn't stay here indefinitely?

I fold my t-shirts
like this. Lately, though, I've acquired a lot of long-sleeved thermals that I like to wear. Is there a comparable method of folding long-sleeved shirts? If not, what's your favorite quick and consistent long-sleeved-shirt folding method? (Extra points if it also works for bulkier stuff like sweaters and sweatshirts.)

I have a moped I would like to use on a regular basis to commute to and from school. My issue is storage. Right now it is stored inside in the back of my (first floor) apartment and it is difficult to lug outside and back in. Ideally I'd put it outside, but I live in an area where I'm extremely concerned about the possibility of it being stolen. What to do?

Photograph print storage and archiving. I have several document boxes full of randomly sized and often somewhat tatty photo wallets, usually containing either 24 or 36 6x4 photos, and neg strips. I'm looking for a storage system to migrate these too. Basically, I'd like to take the photos out the old wallets, put them in the new standard card/plastic wallets, and then add/write some index terms on the top spine and cover. Thank you!

I'm getting rid of old career/office stuff I don't need, but just realized I have an entire closet full of old Macs and hard drives that are full of all sorts of stuff I should probably sort through, consolidate, purge and/or save... How do people do that nowadays?

I've replaced an aging iMac with 3 external drives hanging off of it with a Macbook Pro with the same 3 external drives hanging off of it.
The setup also includes a cable modem and a Time Capsule.
Right now the drives are in daisychained Firewire mode.
I'm looking for a way to connect the drives to my wifi network so I can eliminate the need to plug the first drive into the laptop? Staying with Firewire would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker.

I like my coffee--enough that I just drink one good cup a day. (I make it with an Aeropress.) Since it's just one cup, I don't feel shy about adding half & half. Ultra-pasteurized h&h has a sell-by date that can be a month out or more. I thought I'd be smart and make it easier to store and pour by putting it in a glass container. It's this
GlassLock container.
After four or five days, the h&h starts to separate. What should last for weeks more goes bad almost right away. This has happened with several brands of h&h, and I've certainly washed the container well. Does anyone have a guess on why this is happening? Any suggestions on a container (you've tried yourself) that does work well for storing half & half?

My workplace seems to deal with storage in a way that is unsafe: we have boxes stacked to the ceiling (one box on top of the other, not layered like brick) along several walls and shallow crates and flat boxes stacked to the ceiling in an area at least 6' on each side without any sort of support other than the containers everything is in. Is this normal for stockrooms and warehouses? If not, how can I do something about it?
