How do I stop this infernal contraption and stick it to Microsoftian tyranny? I am very impulsive. My brain often persuades me to do things I shouldn't, like play games when i need to do work, spend money to eat a terrible meal when I'm on a diet, etc. It starts as a thought i dont think I'll act on, then grows fast from there. Impulsively inclined people: When your brain is trying to convince you that doing something you know is bad is fine 'just this one time', what tricks do you use on your brain to get it to cut it out? I've been in a serious relationship for almost 4 years. it was very toxic at times but we have been working very hard and diligently to recognize and change things to make us work. Anyhow in the past my 43 year old boyfriend has begun teasing me by flicking me, pulling my pants down while I'm either just talking to him or go up to hug him, he will flick me hard with the dishrag, poke me until I get mad, kick me when we are walking although not hard, constantly undo my bras strap many times a day, sometimes mock me when I talk.... Anyhow you get my point. [more inside]
My cat has barely let out a meow since I've been home from work. Usually he starts up as soon as my keys are in the door. I plan on taking him with me tomorrow if he's not back to normal by the time I'm ready to leave for work, and hitting the Vet. Any ideas what could be wrong though? [more inside]
What are you supposed to do to minimize being reinfected with staph? So far the only advice I've gotten from doctors is "wash your hands more" but I do that already and it's not helping. [more inside]
I like it when a song is powering along and then it comes to a complete stop and then starts again. Grandfather's Clock is an example. Faker's 'This Heart Attack' does the same thing. What are some others?
There's a stop sign in front of my house, and people don't stop at it. Our neighborhood is working on various ways of solving this problem, and my contribution is to create signs to hang up on my wall right next to the stop sign. Last year in a fit of pique Mr. BlahLaLa made one that said SLOW DOWN, FU**ER! That actually had a big, positive impact, believe it or not, but when the novelty wore off, so did compliance. So, help me create a stack of posters I can use in rotation? [more inside]

Do you know this crudely animated stop-motion music video (or the song it is a video for)...can't remember the song, but part of the refrain is like "shake the house, shake the house" with female vocalist. Two characters standing outside of the house, with a nice tree in the side yard. I think its a love song or some other similar "you're crazy" kind of number but upbeat and fun!

How can I stop an automatic adobe download? Every time I boot up my computer I get a prompt to download Adobe version 7.0. I already have it on my machine and I use windows XP. I’ve tried to initiate the download, to get rid of the prompt, and I get a message that you already have this version on your machine and the download stops. I’ve tried to uninstall version 7.0 and reinstall it and that doesn’t work either. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance for your help.
I just got a new MacBook Pro 15.4 (1.83 GHz). Everything's great, except for a hissing from the right-hand internal speaker anytime a sound plays through it. When just idle, in Word for example, there is no noise. But anytime a sound-using program is booted, iTunes or GarageBand for example, there is a continual hissing and popping noise, similar to fuzz on a television screen, that is very loud. Anytime a system sounds plays, such as the Trash sound, hissing accompanies it. The only way to make the noise stop is to plug in headphones, or external computer speakers. This hissing only occurs through the internal speakers. Does anyone know how to stop this annoying sound?

I recently, out of curiosity, tried the public transportation systems in Los Angeles and Orange County, CA. I know that you can’t seriously depend on buses to get around – most buses run every 20-30 minutes, not to mention the waiting time for connection. Ok, I can accept that. But what puzzles me is that there are so many “unnecessary” stops, a lot of which are installed BOTH before AND after the traffic lights at the same intersection. Twice as many stops double the travelling time. It just seems to me such a waste of resources and lack of efficiency. Are people not willing even to walk across the streets to catch the buses or is this some kind of community service issue? Any input will be appreciated.
