My car was stolen about 3 weeks ago. Now I just found a listing on craigslist that looks exactly like my car. There are some identifying features in the paint job and interior details that make me think this is, in fact, my car that someone is trying to resell. What do I do now? [more inside]
My car was stolen (from a major suburb in the Boston area). Wondering about next steps. [more inside]
I've seen the culprit who has stolen my car driving around town and actually trying to sell it on one occasion. Police have been unable to arrive in time every time I spot him and alert them. They are also apparently too busy to track him down with the license plate info and surveillance footage I have provided. I'd like to determine his address and get my car before he sells it. I have the Plate and Vin of his own vehicle. [more inside]
My debit card was stolen. Normally this would be a no-big-deal, happens-all-the-time kind of situation, but this particular card had never left the house and seems to have been stolen from the kitchen table. Please help me decide what to do. [more inside]
I had my Macbook stolen last week. I believe it was set to automatically log into my user and it logs into all sorts of websites (Paypal, Amazon) automatically. So I'm inclined to go change all my passwords, but immediately after the theft, I activated all of the timebombs in Apple's Find My Mac, and it hasn't popped up online. Can I assume that the thief can't use my login information, since he doesn't know my admin password and if he ever goes online and tries to use my auto-login stuff, the computer will lock down? Or can he migrate that data over to another computer and use it there?
I lost my phone in November. I tried using Location History and Where’s My Droid to track it to no avail, then gave up and bought a new phone. Today, I noticed that about a month ago several selfies of a handful of guys in an electronics store had been uploaded to my Google Photos online. There is no location data associated with the photos, and from what I can tell I can't find it on Location History or Where's My Droid now. [more inside]
My understanding is that a stolen card or card number has a shelf life of a couple of days at most, before someone gets wise to the theft and cancels the number. The stories I'm reading suggest that these stolen numbers are good for quite a long time. The online stores that sell them even guarantee they're still good! Are the owners of the cards failing to notify the bank after realizing that their cards were used at Target during the period when all the numbers were stolen? Are the banks not scanning their files to find out which cards were used at Target during the period, and taking the initiative in canceling them?
About a month ago, my mom misplaced her government-owned (work) iPhone 5. After a month of searching her home/car/office/relatives/everywhere to no avail, she copped up and told boss. They took the news well and paid for not only her new phone, but also for the loss of her old phone. Being the mischievous son I am, I want to make an attempt to retrieve the phone. [more inside]

We had our car stolen a couple of weeks ago. The insurance company actually worked pretty quickly and we agreed a settlement amount with them and they have paid out. Now been informed by the Police that the car has been found. It looks like it's in pretty good nick apart from a couple of broken windows. Would we be able to buy the car back from the insurance company? How much if any discount should I expect? Problems in the future? Anyone got any experience of buying their car back from their insurance company?

About 30 years ago my dad had a large gun collection (about 100 total). They were stolen and only about 10 of them were ever recovered. He had a list of models and serial numbers that he sent to local law enforcement. I still have that list. is there any chance of recovering more of the guns? How would I go about that?
