I have started dabbling in the stock market again, and I've been trying to figure out why conventional wisdom suggests that trading in round lots (usually of 100) is better than trading odd lots (<100). Can you help? [more inside]

NASD licenses (specifically series 7 & 63) requires company sponsorship to obtain. Once obtained, you need company sponsorship to maintain the licenses. Is there a company who will maintain your licenses for you while you are not working in the financial industry? Perhaps for a fee on top of the annual registration costs? I believe you have two years from separation with your employer to obtain a new sponsor.

Opinions on the best online online brokerage out there right now?
I want to buy some stocks and do a little trading for myself away from my retirement account which is handled by a professional. Hard to pick between the big boys (e-trade, scottrade, etc.) or maybe there's a better option I'm not aware of.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've saved a little bit of money and have decided to invest it in the stock market. I don't have alot to invest but it is certainly something I can and plan on building on.The question now is what online trader to go with. Any reccomendations for online traders with low minimum starting balances and good learning tools for beginners would be greatly appreciated.

I just graduated law school and have received a significant amount of money in graduation gifts. I'd like to "invest" the money in the market but I have no idea how to do that. I'd like to use online investment software that is very intuitive. Any suggestions?

Online brokers...there's about a zillion of the darn things. Any of the Mefi gang have experiences, good or bad, that they'd like to share to help me pick one? I'm not a day trader, I won't be doing huge amounts of transactions, but I'd like to be able to get away from the seriously high commission fees I'm paying for buy and sell orders through my current broker. (Especially since they do nothing but place the order...it's not like they offer advice or anything.)
