This trunk is a curb recovery - I was hoping to lightly scrub it to remove some of the surface rust and seal it - To keep that 'Silent Hill' look without having the rust rub off on everything. Will I be destroying a priceless antique? What's the best choice for sealing it while keeping it's creepy look intact? [more inside]

Cool... work just put a quality food steamer in the really clean break room (boss is a workout queen). We're free to use, and there's a good farmer's market every Thursday right out the door. Now, what can/should I make? (more inside) [more inside]

I need an antique (or sufficiently vintage-y-antiqu-y styled) trunk for my living room. Problem: every piece I've seen to has been too big, too worn, too ugly, or too expensive. Where would I find stores/markets/fairs/dealers in the NYC metro area that might carry such trunks? I got a zipcar, so I can tool around the tri-state area. Insanely detailed requirements follow. I have neither pudding basin nor steamer. How can I improvise the equipment necessary to steam a Christmas pudding for hours and hours? For what it's worth I do have a rice cooker.

This is so corny. Years and years ago we stopped ironing. After a while I decided that my shirts should look a little less wrinkled and started taking them to the cleaners at a price that is now 2 bucks per shirt. I am getting tired of going to drop off and pick-up and pay for these shirts. A friend at work suggested a steamer. They say it works much better and much quicker than an iron. I can't go back to ironing....ever. I am looking for a solution. Do steamers work faster and more efficiently than irons? Is there another less time consuming solution? Should I wear wrinkled shirts?

If one wanted to cross the Atlantic (west to east) on the cheap, and the time wasn't really a factor, how would one go about doing that? Are there still tramp steamers?
