Hi all! I am looking to buy a looping station soon. Here are my perimeters:
2. have more than 30 seconds of loop time (basically, what I want is a Line6 DL4 with longer loop time!)
3. half time playback, and can record in half time to have double tim playback
4. reverse playback a plus but not essential
5. undo a plus but even less essential
no delay or reverb necessary but I don't hate them. No drumtrack necessary. I'll never use it.
Right now I am considering DL4, TC Electronic's Ditto Looper, and maybe a Boss RC-3. But I need more ideas! none of them are perfect!

My brain and googlefu is having a hard time with this one. People used to reproduce more back in the day, therefore, shouldn't antique cars seat more people? Does anyone have a list or know of which classic/vintage/antique cars seat at least 8 people. I'm thinking driver, passenger, and two rows of three.

I know that we have TV stations, actual buildings where the broadcast originates, and if you're not getting a clear signal on a radio frequency you might say "try another channel" on a walkie-talkie. But when it comes to the device in your home and you want to alter the signal coming in, you "change the channel" on the TV and you "change the station" on the radio. Why these terms for these devices?

Interested in BMW 3-series station wagon. Torn between new ($46,000) vs used ($26,000, 2006, 90,000 km). Which is better value in the long term? I intend to drive it for 10+ years, if not into the ground. [more inside]

Best SEPTA Regional Rail station to park at or nearby Friday night to Saturday afternoon? Needs to be on Manayunk/Norristown or Paoli/Thorndale Line. Looking for stations that have either pretty easy parking or available street parking within a five minute walk.

Every time I take the train, just before leaving or entering the station, all the lights go out and it seems like the ventilation shuts off too. A couple minutes later everything comes on again. Why does it do that?

I'm working on a project where I need photo and video reference of a large split-flap display in action, like those old Solari departure boards that used to grace train stations and airports. Where can I still find one in use? High quality video or film references would also be welcome (like if you can think of an old movie where these are featured in action). [more inside]

When I was in Japan about ten years ago, I recall seeing a movie on the VHS rental racks about a guy working at a remote train station, possibly in the north of Japan? I seem to recall that the cover/poster had the station agent standing in a snowfall, and I think he was played by a much-loved actor, but I can't recall the title or the actor. I believe it's a dramatic film from the mid-to-late 1990s. Does this description ring any bells? I'd like to finally see it.

When I was a child there used to be cryptic messages on BBC Radio Four between the news and weather etc. that were weird and cryptic (as in they shouldn't have been on mainstream radio), but dull - stuff like "Mrs. Smith from Doncaster needs to contact her family in Hull".
I have been told they were used for spies to communicate - does anyone know any more about this? I think it's something like those code words
on the Tube that get announced if there's something going on.
And numbers stations of course!
