I came late to sci-fi. And even when I started getting into it, Star Trek seemed so sprawling and deep, I didn't know even know where to begin. Star Trek TOS: what were those things the attractive ensigns would bring Captain Kirk to sign in some of the episodes? I'm throwing around ideas for an up-coming writing project and I seem to recall reading about ten years ago about a special edition version of the original series of Star Trek which ran on a cable channel in the US.
