What kind of things can I do to help my partner with his business?

My husband just started his own house painting plus remodeling business after several years of working at a local college managing a mostly student-lead paint crew there. He also other years working part-time in the trades. (And after basically remodeling/building our house). I want to help him grow and be successful. [more inside]

2007 Toyota Avalon starting problem...

About two weeks ago I started my Avalon and pulled it into my garage. I turned the car off and decided to restart it to pull a little closer inside. It would try to turn over but would not start until after about 4 tries. The same thing today, I started the car, turned it off and went in the house for something, came out and it would not start until about 4 tries. There are no dash lights burning after starting, what could be the problem?

how can I start my own interpretation and translation company?

I am going to start my own interpretation and translation coorperation. I have the money, time and people to do it. But I really have limited information about starting this business. So I really need a lot of advice about it.I live in columbus and going to start it here. What license do I need to get to start the cooperation? What kinds of certificates should my interpreters get, and how can they get those certificates, like medical interprter's certificate, court interpreters's certificate? I am willing to pay for the necessary training and certification for the interpreters who are going to work in the cooperation. [more inside]

Car won't start--ruled out the usual suspects..what next?

I have a 2008 Dodge caliber base model, CVT. It's been making more noise than usual lately, and sometimes it feels like it's going to stall out at traffic lights. I got an oil change yesterday, and that seemed to help with the noise a little, however when I got home, I started it to show the noise to a friend (it was difficult to describe) and, although it didn't die while on, after turning off then it now will not start. recruitment business startup... first challenging step?

I have worked in recruitment for all of five months. Having previously run a less than successful but still operating and now growing charity, I missed the security of a regular paycheck. They like my sales experience but are not as experienced in teaching one how to recruit for their sector. I have had a few offers but have not closed a sale in two months for a flat fee recruitment advertising (no headhunting) product they are halfheartedly experimenting with. Out of 22 staff, I am only the only salesperson for it. I do earn a small monthly salary and could earn a commission. Out of left field, a family friend has come forward with a big recruitment opportunity with a software company. I am currently working on a split commission deal with a work colleague on a software role but do no recruiting, only manage the business communication. I feel ashamed about it and feel I could be of better service as an independent recruiter. However, I need some advice about starting up and feel I can't really get an objective account from senior leaders in the field. [more inside]

Computer boots to blank screen many times before loading - help!

When I start my computer, it loads to a blank screen and freezes. It has to be restarted anywhere from 2-20 times before it finally boots up. It has been F-Disked and still does this. What could be causing this and what could I do about it? It's a PC running Windows Vista. I've had it 3 years and it's done this the whole time I've had it. Thank you!

Too old to start a family?

Hello Everyone! I am 28 and my husband is 25. We have been considering the prospect of starting a family in the next 2-3 years. I am apprehensive because I am concerned that I may too old to do this (I would be about 30 when we started -- we are considering having 3 children, so I would be mid to later 30's when we are done.) I am worried that I may be too old to safely have children (I am concerned about pregnancy difficulties and complications). [more inside]

Oh god, I'm another blogger wannabe.

Cliche alert: I'm thinking of starting a blog. However, since I don't have a specific theme yet (um, haven't picked something to do for one year that will result in a book contract:)..just kidding), I would prefer to have it only viewed by close friends at first. Is there a way to do this? I'm looking at blogger.com right now to start. I am not very tech, but I have a lot to say!:) so am looking for an outlet (secure at first, to prevent major embarassments if it doesn't work out) with which to do that. Any advice? (Basically I am planning on making a lot of changes this year, wish to document them, and any other random life observations/stories and have all of that readable/viewable by close friends at first and maybe expand from there.) Is this possible?

I wanna sell booze.

I'm curious what it would take to make and sell a bottle of booze commercially. A new tequila or vodka for instance. What would it take to have my own bottle for sale in Albertson's (etc...) nationwide. I know Sammy Hagar wanted his own tequila and now has it, and I know some guy started Skyy vodka. Now, Sammy is clearly a $$$$$-onaire, and for all I know, so was the Skyy guy before he started. Does it take a million bucks? Or can I start small for $10,000? What kind of barriers to entry are there? Legality issues? Initial production? Production scalability? Any info would be appreciated.
