I have a 2008 Dodge caliber base model, CVT. It's been making more noise than usual lately, and sometimes it feels like it's going to stall out at traffic lights. I got an oil change yesterday, and that seemed to help with the noise a little, however when I got home, I started it to show the noise to a friend (it was difficult to describe) and, although it didn't die while on, after turning off then it now will not start. I'm trying to replicate Fage greek yogurt at home but I'm having trouble finding a yogurt starter with this exact mix of bacteria: L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus, L. Acidophilus, Bifidus, L. Casei. Can anyone suggest a source?
While installing a new car stereo in my 1999 Saturn SW2, I screwed something up, as I no longer get voltage to the orange "constant power" wire (well, sometimes a mere hundredth of a volt!) to my car stereo, and my engine won't crank either! Yet all of my other electronics (headlights, air conditioner, etc.) work fine. Is there a blown fuse preventing power from getting to the starter and the car stereo? If so, where might the fuse be? The fuses in the fuse box are all fine.
Its a 2005 vw jetta TDI. That's a diesel. My radiator light was on. The fluid kept getting low. But the temperature never registered high. Still, I should have known better. The car stalled after a 6 hour trip and won't start. It stalled after coming to a stop while trying to accelerate away from the stop. There was no smoke or flames, but when I checked the coolant reservoir it was dry, and when I added water it boiled. The mechanic said the starter burnt up, and that the starter and the broken coolant pipe must be replaced just to test the engine. That will run me $900. He gave me a 50/50 that the engine is screwed, which means he just doesn't know. Is it worth it? Is my car dead, and I need to accept it and move on?
Car was starting intermittently (power to the dash lights, etc., but zero activity from the starter) as the battery reached the expected end of its life. So, new battery. Same problem. The shop that has the car tells me that a new battery sends a relatively high amount of power to the starter and that this can cause problems with it (gears, etc.) This doesn't sound ludicrous, but I know enough about cars to know how much I don't know. Here's hoping the knowledgeable people (for whom I have vast respect and gratitude) 'round here can share their thoughts. Thanks! [more inside]

My 1991 Nissan 240sx won't start - it won't even try to turn over. This one is a real mystery; I think it must be the starting circuit, so I'm trying to go through the service manual carefully and check everything. However, I still can't find the issue. Does anyone have any ideas? Details inside on what I've tried so far. [more inside]
The starter on my '92 Dodge Spirit keeps dying, even after I replace it. Why? [more inside]
I'm starting work soon, any ideas on how I could best spend my time before it starts in one month? This is my second fulltime job since I finished my degree last year, and I'd be far away from home this time. Just wondered if there are worthwhile things to do in this not so short, but not so long period of time. [more inside]
I inherited a 1988 John Deere 160LT Lawn Tractor. It has been difficult to start. I was advised that my battery did not have enough cold cranking amps, sp I bought a more powerful twelve-volt battery today and I still cannot start the mower. I can, however, hear a click inside the engine compartment each time I turn the key. [more inside]

I have a 1979 Ford F100, which once belonged to my father. Since he passed away, it's served as a backup vehicle for an array of relatives, and now it's my turn. Yesterday, I got into the truck and turned the key, and I heard a single "clunk" (not a click-click-click), as if something started moving and then froze up. I tried again, with the same result. The next time, I got a kind of whirring sound, like something spinning free. It's a continuous whirring, rather than a series of attempts to catch. Lights and radio work fine. Jumping it didn't help. I didn't try to roll it off, because I'm loathe to leave it at the bottom of the hill in my slighty sketchy neighborhood; I'll probably try that this weekend, when I can get some help. The battery is relatively new. It started easily up until yesterday. [more inside]
Netbook/Windows Starter 7 question: What is the filename (and path) for the default, non-changeable background (wallpaper) image? Can I just save what I want as that file and have it use that instead? [more inside]
I just purchased a Suzuki SV650 and I want to know where I can find a starter tool kit for maintaining the motorcycle. I bought a Haynes Service Manual/Handbook and want to regularly maintain the bike myself. Changing oil, check spark plugs, air filter, tire pressure, drive chain wear, etc... I would rather not buy all the tools separately one by one as that would not only be more time consuming but I don't know where to start. [more inside]
